My PC favors the integrated GPU instead of the dedicated GPU.

Hello everyone,
I have a new laptop (Asus ROG Flow X13) for a while now and I found that the performance wasn't up to par. (I play on a second screen connected to my PC.) After some research, I realized that the integrated GPU was being favored based on battery usage settings. In the graphics settings, I then forced the use of the GPU (RTX 3050Ti) for my games.
BUT, when I play Minecraft, I notice in the F3 menu that the RTX is not being used and only the integrated GPU is running. This is the only game of mine that has this issue, where the "forcing" does not work on the second screen.
While trying to solve this problem, I discovered that my second screen was exclusively connected to the integrated GPU, unlike the laptop screen which is properly connected to the RTX. This doesn't pose a problem with the other games, for which the use of the RTX is forced even on the second screen, but Minecraft can only use it on the laptop screen.
I hope someone can help me!
Thank you in advance

Hello
I understood that the integrated GPU was highlighted depending on the battery usage settings.
On battery, that's normal; when gaming, you absolutely need to be plugged in.

Afterwards, it's the graphics driver and Windows that manage the switch between the two cards, since Minecraft doesn't require many resources, it's easy to imagine that either one or the other puts pressure on the processor chip....
Also, check the multi-screen settings; there might be something to look into on that side.

I searched through everything and tested everything, but nothing works. Plus, I forced the use of the RTX for Minecraft in the device manager, on the Nvidia panel, and in the graphics settings in the Windows menu. Minecraft isn't very demanding, but playing with all the details at max, modpacks, and a render distance of 24, the integrated GPU isn't enough. Thanks anyway!
Can you show me your advanced power settings?
Search - Choose a power management mode - Modify mode settings - Modify advanced power settings
Expand everything and send the screenshots.
Best regards,
Ammoniac
Here are the screenshots, I hope you'll find something useful!
I added 2 screenshots of my advanced settings from the Windows menu at the end, just in case that helps. We can see that the dedicated graphics card is handling the laptop screen and that the integrated card is managing the second screen. All the games I run on screen 2 go through the dedicated card, but it seems that Minecraft can't manage that. Maybe forcing screen 2 to run on the dedicated card would solve the issue, but I don't know how to do that. Also, I wasn't planning on disabling the integrated card for fear that it would kill the battery life in portable mode when I'm going to class, etc.
Thanks in advance!

Good evening, thanks for the screenshots...
What I see is that for PCI-E, both on Battery and on AC, you have "Maximum Power Saving".
What I want you to do is change it to "High Performance or Maximum Performance" (it will depend on what you have).
And for "Switchable Dynamic Graphics", change On Battery to "Maximize Performance" instead of Optimize Power Saving. Try what I told you, restart your PC to ensure the changes, launch Minecraft and let me know.
I would also like to know, when you're playing Minecraft, are you playing on your 1st screen: LQ134N1JW55 or your 2nd screen: LG ULTRAFINE
Okay, you're playing on the LG, I can see a bit better, what type of cable is your screen connected with: HDMI, DisplayPort, etc...?
Also, if you could open your Nvidia control panel and screenshot the part where you see PhysX
Thanks in advance
From what I can see, your laptop's graphics card has only one port, and your laptop's screen is already connected to it, and I assume, and I think it's the case, that your LG must be connected to your integrated graphics.
In terms of PhysX settings, you'll see the processor set to Auto Selection from what I can see, you'll need to force it onto your dedicated graphics card, basically your RTX 3050Ti.
So, in your advanced display settings, you'll see video card properties for the display, send me the one for screen 1 and the one for screen 2
It's done. Nothing new. Do I need to restart before trying again?
Here are the screenshots:

Hello, I don't know your laptop too well but ... in your BIOS (press F2) when starting the PC
Then press F7 for Advanced mode (Advanced)
under Advanced mode you will find > Graphics Configuration
Inside you will likely find an option where you can choose between Auto or Integrated Graphics - Discrete Graphics & or - Nvidia Optimus (for Win7)
You need to choose Discrete Graphics ; after that press F10 to save and restart the PC
Personally, I don't know much about this game (Minecraft)
It seems to me that Minecraft can also use Java, right? Or something like openJDK...
I wonder if that's the case with your Minecraft
What you should do (and this will be my last message) because it's annoying me LOL.
Open your game (Minecraft...) then press Alt+Tab to switch to Windows
Open your task manager and locate the file javaw.exe (in the Details tab): then right-click on it to Open file location; after that, copy the folder path
Then go to Windows Graphics Settings; and add the exe (javaw.exe) as well as java.exe
Just paste the location path where it’s located.
Then options and set them to High performance
and there, I think it will finally use your RTX
Keep me updated.
Hello, based on the screenshots you posted, everything is set to power saving mode, both on battery and on AC power. Trying to play with such a GPU under these settings will not work, and it can only be done on AC power, because on battery, you won't play for long; it all depends on the game. The more resource-intensive a game is, the more the battery will drain.
Set all your settings to maximum for both AC power and battery. If you want to play on battery, for example, on the PCI-Express setting, it states: power management, link state, battery and AC power are set to maximum power saving. Change to maximum settings, no power saving, and the same goes for the rest; set all energy-saving related settings to no power saving. Try it, and it should work. If possible, save all your settings in a profile; if there's no way to do that, write everything down on a notepad and reset the settings to their previous state. Good luck.
Okay, well I'm a big noob but I have an idea:
Run your games as an admin or launch them with your GPU so your 3050ti will be used, or otherwise in the task manager, disable the non-dedicated GPU (the APU).
Let me know if that's good (not sure about what I'm saying).
Have a good day
Double ciao!
But if nothing changes, it's likely that your PC has a connection problem between the motherboard and the 3050t.
But just in case, if you have MSI Afterburner, uninstall it immediately because I've had several issues with it, so uninstall it and restart your PC.
bye
Double ciao!
I confirm, you're a Noob xD (response to your previous post)
The issue was resolved here > (No. 31) confirmed afterwards (No. 32)
After reading the tip, you'll gain XP and be less of a noob than before ^^
Hey there flo ;)
There is some OC software that is soft, but unfortunately they are ....Proprietary > heavy and often really bad <
to my knowledge there is nothing better than MSI AB
so I don't really know if it will work for his case on laptop.
PS: I would advise him to go download MSI AB from the site guru3d.com; there is a stable version and a beta version.
He had Afterburner but was having sound issues, so I advised him to remove it.

Yes, I know, but the problem also occurs when I'm plugged in, and whether I'm on high performance or even in turbo mode, the PC still uses the integrated GPU in Minecraft when I'm on the second screen.
