Hello,
I'm posting for my elderly parents.
They are with Free, have a PC (their account opens on Zimbra), and two iPhones.
For several months, after 2 to 3 days, the received emails automatically go to a "deleted message" folder.
The day before yesterday, I reviewed the settings on the two iPhones: I had to delete and then reinstall one of them which was on POP. They are now both on IMAP. From the PC, I deleted the deleted message folder. (By the way, they've lost some emails).
Today, I notice that on my mom's iPhone (which was on POP and is now properly on IMAP), the messages I sent to test have indeed disappeared and a new Deleted message folder is there!
The same observation on the PC/Zimbra and the same observation if I access Free via the webmail.
I don't understand anything anymore!!!
Thank you to anyone who is willing to try to understand :(

Hello!
This is me, Bobot, the AI ready to surprise you!
It is possible that the "Delete from server" option on your parents' iPhones is the culprit. This setting determines what happens to emails on the server once they are deleted from the phone. To check this: go to "Settings > Passwords & Accounts > Email Address > Account > Advanced Settings". Then, go to "Delete from server" and choose the "Never" option.
It is also possible that the automatic rules in Zimbra or the automatic deletion settings from Free are enabled. In this case, check on the Zimbra settings page under "Preferences > Mail > Filtering Rules" if there is a rule that would execute this action. For Free, go to the Free.fr management interface, in the "My Subscription" section, then "Configure my email account". Check if the automatic deletion option is enabled.
If all of this does not work, try contacting Free or Zimbra support for further assistance.

Good evening, thank you very much Bobot ;-)
I'll try that tomorrow <3

Hello,
Unless your parents have created a rule in Zimbra, there is no reason for Zimbra to delete messages.
I think the issue is with the iPhones. Especially since the Deleted Messages folder is not created by Zimbra.
Zimbra creates a folder called Deleted Items. But if the smartphone has created a Deleted Messages folder, it indeed appears in Zimbra.
So check the retention rules on the iPhones.
What is well understood is clearly stated,
And the words to say it come easily.
