How to uninstall adwcleaner?
Solvedpierre -
Hello, I wanted to test another/new free software like CCleaner, and on the site, I noticed good ratings (stars) for adwcleaner.
After installation and use, I still wonder why it is overrated? This is just my personal opinion..
After testing, I couldn't uninstall it via my OS, nor through my antivirus, and also not with other software (like CCleaner) >> none of them recognize this software on my PC.
Anyway, all that's left for me is to do it manually.
If someone is familiar with this software, thank you in advance for your advice.
While waiting to uninstall it 'manually',
Thank you for your feedback, best regards.

Hello.
AdwCleaner is a portable software, meaning it doesn't require installation; you simply click on its executable and it launches. To remove it, you just need to delete the downloaded file and the AdwCleaner folder that is located at the root of the C drive.
AdwCleaner was acquired by Malwarebytes, and it is preferable to perform occasional scans with the free version of Malwarebytes, as Malwarebytes integrates AdwCleaner and will therefore be more relevant and effective.
As for CCleaner, it is an unnecessary software used incorrectly and too broadly; it should only be used in specific cases and not all the time, which will prevent computer crashes. Some even mistake it for an antivirus, which it is not at all.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
Even though we can delete this portable software directly from the disk via an explorer, it still leaves traces, right? (Registry)
I will test Malwarebytes, with some doubts, but I might as well explore thoroughly before judging.
Regarding CCleaner, I'm well aware that it's not an antivirus????. That said, you seem to know it well in terms of its usage, etc. If you have any advice, I'd be happy to hear it.
Thanks
Best regards

Yes, probably, you can remove them with CCleaner which will delete the orphan registry keys of CCleaner.
Revo Uninstaller mentioned above will be of no use, AdwCleaner is a portable software so it won't be able to uninstall it, since AdwCleaner does not appear on the list of installed applications.

I don’t have this software on my PC and it’s doing just fine, all of this is largely marketing, see my previous message.

As for Revo Uninstaller, I’m attaching a tutorial that will allow you to use it to uninstall applications that are on the list of installed applications.
Tutorial Revo Uninstaller to read carefully.
Accept the uninstall of the program you want to uninstall and if there is an error message saying that the uninstall is impossible, close the error message and continue the procedure.
Check "Advanced scan" then click on "Scan".
Click on "Select all" then on "Delete" if a second list appears do the same then once everything is deleted click on "Finish" a restart may be required.
Hi everyone,
bazfile is a security contributor specially trained in disinfection, even though he is a volunteer on CCM. You can trust him for his knowledge of these tools. AdwCleaner was widely used for disinfection on forums, maybe even before Malwarebytes existed.
