Link openings in Gmail
Theoask -
Hello,
On Android smartphone, when I open a URL in my Gmail emails, it does not open Google Chrome but another browser with a dark theme.
How can I set Chrome as the default browser for opening links in my emails?

Hello,
Except that it is not a PC but an Android smartphone.
We can of course consider the case of the default browser that can be set as well, but it has no reason to concern only Gmail; it could then be for certain phones (for example Samsung) the native browser, or a conflict with a second browser that we installed (Firefox...) for all links.
It therefore appears more likely that it is Gmail that is using its own internal browser here:

Hello
"Opening links in my emails": be careful!
"It doesn't open Google Chrome but another browser."
That already makes a bad impression. But also and above all: what is the link provided and by whom?
In light of the increase in fake emails, avoid opening links; prefer accessing links you already know to avoid providing important data to intruders (access codes, personal or banking information) by filling out forms later.
**Security measures in each email box disable links in emails; you need to adjust the settings of your email box. An example for Outlook:

**To open Chrome when links are clicked, it's probably in Chrome that you need to adjust settings, once warned of the risks. If an adjustment is necessary for each email box, also read the information for your email box.
So I go through a search in a browser to read several tutorials and choose those that suit me:

More surely, make sure to update Chrome, go to Chrome help, follow a perfectly adapted and up-to-date guide to associate Chrome with opening links in your email. Today I read this:
How to set links to open by default in Chrome?
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- In the top right, click on More.
- Click on Settings.
- In the "Default browser" section, click on Make default. If this button does not appear, it means that Google Chrome is already your default browser.
I did not find the mentioned parameter in the Gmail settings.
It may depend on the Android version if it is old.
On Android 13, I can find it in Settings then General settings where it is called Open links in Gmail.
My phone is from 2021. I don't have the option in the Gmail settings...
