Hello,

I would like to know if it is really possible to trust free sites for PDF processing (for example, I Love PDF). Indeed, I want to put the term "WATERMARK" on the PDFs I have, which apparently allows me to secure them. However, in this process, I would prefer that these official administrative documents do not run any risk if I entrust them to this type of site.

What do you think?

Thank you.

Hello,

I don't have an opinion on this: even if the website in question doesn't exploit the data, it can never be ruled out that what is online could be misused by third parties.

There has been an official application for some time which is thought to be better secured, but still...
https://www.blogdumoderateur.com/filigranefacile-outil-officiel-securiser-documents/

The alternative is to use local programs, see for example:
https://www.commentcamarche.net/applis-sites/bureautique/25673-ajouter-un-filigrane-dans-un-pdf-gratuitement/

A watermark does not formally protect a document; it can simply allow (for example, a copy of an ID for use by X) that it is not used for a purpose for which it is not intended.

Hello,

The site Ilovepdf.com is often recommended on CCM. There have never been any negative feedback (to my knowledge).

Here, the site's security policy.

If you don't trust it, you can create your own watermark.
Software like Foxit Reader allows you to create stamps that can be used as a watermark. It will still take you a little time if you're not used to it.

In any case, I strongly recommend that you print the watermarked document as a PDF. Use the virtual printer Microsoft Print to PDF.
Otherwise, your watermark can be removed without any difficulty.

(It is possible that the official site mentioned by brucine places watermarks that are impossible to remove; I haven't checked)

What is understood well is expressed clearly,
And the words to say it come easily.

Hello,

I thank everyone for the information shared.

I will test... Foxit and the links you have provided.

"Adobe convert" mentioned above is paid when you want to make modifications.

Thanks again!

Have a nice day.
