PS5: LAN cable issue

Hello,

I want to have an internet connection on my PS5 via my LAN cable.

Until now, the PS5 did not recognize it, even though it was plugged in. It didn't even make the connection between the console and the internet.

After several searches, I restarted my PS5 in safe mode. Still nothing.

I manually configured my LAN cable by adding: the DNS, the IPV4 address, the subnet mask, and the default gateway.

The PS5 recognized it, but since then it shows an error message: “Unable to connect to the Internet. Your internet service provider or your router may be preventing your PS5 from connecting to the Internet. Make sure you can connect to the Internet via the same network as your PS5 by testing the connection with your computer or mobile device.”

I plugged and unplugged my TP LINK powerline adapter. And nothing.

Do you have a solution, please?

Thank you in advance

Mel

test 1: can you connect a laptop or desktop to the LAN port of the router (the port where you wanted to connect your PS5) and tell us if the computer has internet access?

if not, then the issue does not come from your PS5 but from this RJ45 port.

test 2: connect the PS5 with another LAN cable, preferably CAT 6, to see if it was an issue with the initial defective LAN cable.

finally, going back to test 1 above, if the computer you connect has internet since normally (unless you manipulated and modified things in the router's Admin page) if you haven't touched anything, the computer should automatically connect to the internet network. If it works, then you must have a problem with the RJ45 port of your PS5 (this happens but it's rare = manufacturing defect or overheating due to heat exhaustion towards the back) which could have damaged the port.

test 3: if you can go to someone else's house with your PS5 and connect it via RJ45, to confirm once and for all that the issue does not come from your PS5.

in this test, if you have internet at the person’s house on your PS5, then it's your router at home that has a port opening issue.

if you still don't have internet, then your PS5's LAN port is messed up.

Does it work via Wi-Fi?

Hello,

Thank you very much for your feedback!

So, I use wifi for my computer or my phone. I can use the wifi on my PS5, but it’s not powerful and is unstable. For game installations or other updates, it's a disaster.

I’ve already connected my PS5 to someone else’s, and it worked very well. :(

So if I understand correctly, it’s either a cable issue or a router issue?

I’ve often read that it could come from the port. Do I need to contact my provider for that? (Free)

Thanks again! :),
