Hello,

I have a sound problem on my Dell laptop,

since I updated Windows, I have no sound and in the taskbar, I see the message "no devices found,"

my laptop is the Dell Latitude 7400, I use Support Assist to update the drivers, and the audio driver is properly installed.

I even uninstalled the audio driver that was added by Windows Update and disabled driver updates through Windows, but the thing is that even the driver provided by the manufacturer for my laptop no longer works.

Do you have any ideas to solve my problem please? I am a student and I can't follow my audio and video courses, thank you.

Windows + R
Type --> devmgmt.msc and OK.

Do you have a section --> other devices?
If so, what is the problematic device?

What do you have in audio, video and game controllers?

Also check if there is a device alert in --> System Devices

Hello

Kaneagle, in the Device Manager, I have a section for Other Devices and it's showing Unknown Device.

And under Sound, video and game controllers, I have Realtek(R) Audio and Intel(R) Sound for audio.

I installed the driver you suggested, but unfortunately, it still doesn't work.

I'm on Windows 10, I have the Dell Latitude 7400. I also installed the driver from the official site, but it doesn't work.

Give the identification number of the unknown device
Look at this --> Find the identification number of a device

Hello, for the unknown device I don't have the hardware ID property,

and for the audio, video, and game control section I have two sub-sections:

-Realtek(r) audio >> hardware ID >> there are two 1 INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0295&SUBSYS_102808E1&REV_1000

two INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0295&SUBSYS_102808E1

-Intel (R) audio for display >> hardware ID, there are two as well >> INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_280B&SUBSYS_80860101&REV_1000

and INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_280B&SUBSYS_80860101

Right-click on the unknown device
Uninstall
Check --> delete the device
Uninstall
Restart the PC

Check again for the hardware ID.

Hello

I deleted the device and restarted the PC but I still have no sound.

Red cross + message (no audio output device is installed)

Just to clarify, I have two Windows 10 partitions; on the first one, I have no sound issues because I disabled driver updates in Windows Update, while on the second one, I left them enabled, and that's why I have this problem. I'm trying to tell you that my internal speakers are working properly.

Hello,

Download and install --> 7Zip 64 bits

Right-click on the driver you downloaded in message 1 --> Realtek-High-Definition-Audio ......EXE
Select --> 7Zip
Choose --> extract to "Realtek-High-Definition-Audio .....\"

Go to Device Manager
Right-click on the device
Update driver
Browse my computer for drivers
Browse
Go to the unzipped driver folder --> Realtek-High-Definition-Audio .....
Select the folder --> RealtekAudio
OK, next
Restart.

I right-clicked on the device driver oed... then updated it, I went to the realtekaudio folder, the installation was successful and the exclamation point disappeared from the device, but once restarted I still have no sound and the exclamation point is back on the driver oed...

I started the sound troubleshooting, still a red cross.

Run an sfc:
Windows key + X
Select --> Windows PowerShell (admin) or Windows Terminal (administrator)
Type --> sfc /scannow and press enter

A system file check will be performed.

I ran Windows and it found files to repair.

I restarted but unfortunately I still don't have sound.

Perform a Windows repair.
Check this --> Repair Windows 10 without data loss

I had Windows 10 repaired without losing data and I still have no sound.

It wouldn't be possible for me to do a clean installation of Windows 10 because I have no way to back up my data.

I would really like to find a favorable solution please.

I don't understand, the Realtek driver is properly installed.

Try this:
Go to Device Manager
Right-click on the device
Update driver
Automatically search for drivers
Browse my computer for drivers
Choose from a list of drivers...
Provided disk
Browse
Go to the folder of the unzipped driver --> Realtek-High-Definition-Audio .....
Folder --> RealtekAudio
Folder --> IntelHDASST
Select the file --> IntcOED.inf and OK.
Restart.

Right-click on --> OED Driver .....
Uninstall
Check --> delete the device
Uninstall
Restart the PC.

Reinstall the driver manually.

If the problem persists, back up your data and reinstall Windows.

Hello,

I am getting back to you regarding my ongoing sound issue on my PC.

I reinstalled Windows 11 from scratch, so it’s a clean installation of Windows. I HAVE SOUND.

Situation description:

Step 1: I installed Windows 11 version 22H2 Professional, and I disabled the internet connection so that Windows Update wouldn’t update the drivers.


Step 2: I disabled driver updates in Windows Update
as follows:

Local Group Policy Editor > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update >
Manage updates proposed by Windows Update > Do not include drivers with Windows updates > Enabled
Then I went to Settings > System > System Protection > Hardware > Device Installation Settings > and I disabled the automatic download of manufacturer apps.


Step 3: I activated my Wi-Fi.


Step 4: I waited for Windows to carry out its additional updates, but strangely it also installed the drivers even though I disabled that in Step 2.

Then the sound disappeared and I have a red cross on the taskbar indicating that there are no output devices.

The WINDOWS TROUBLESHOOTER tells me (

Apparently, you don’t have any audio devices connected to your PC.

Make sure an audio device is connected before continuing.

)

even though I just had sound.

I continue.


Step 5: I used Dell's tool called SupportAssist and installed all the updates it proposed.

... still no sound.

Step 6: On the Dell website, I installed the previous version of the audio driver but with no result.

I go to Device Manager and choose the new driver version, I restart with no result.
I switch back to the previous version also with no result.

Previous version > 6.0.8940.1
Latest version > 6.0.9137.1

All drivers are installed except that I have an exclamation mark on a system driver for Intel(R) Smart Sound technology. I will leave you all the screenshots.

Download and install --> 7Zip 64 bits

Download this driver --> Realtek

Right-click on the driver --> sp132849.exe
Select --> 7Zip
Choose --> extract to "sp132849\"

Go to Device Manager
Right-click on the device --> OED driver .....
Update driver
Search automatically for drivers
Browse my computer for drivers
Choose from a list of drivers...
Have Disk
Browse
Go to the unzipped driver folder --> sp132849
Folder --> IntelHDASST
Select the file --> IntcOED.inf and OK.
Restart.

I selected IntcOED.inf, then unzipped the folder and restarted, but I have no sound.

I even tried running the installation without unzipping and restarted, but I still have no sound.

What message do you get when you select the IntcOED.inf file?

at the end of the installation here is the message I received

I don't understand why the OED driver still has an exclamation mark, but the sound works fine
