Hello  Uninstalling Advance AC'97 audio, I lost my audio drivers.  After reinstalling Advance AC'97 audio, I still don't have the drivers.   Can someone help me.   Thanks in advance

Hello, I have a problem with my audio device. If I go to "Sound and audio devices properties," I click on the Audio tab and it tells me that I don’t have any playback device. Help me, I can’t listen to music on my computer anymore, thank you.

I just reinstalled Windows 98 and an MP3 player, and when I want to play a CD the computer tells me that the audio device is not responding or that it is already in use. Hi mike629

Normally XP recognizes quite a few cards and audio chipsets; go to "Device Manager" and you should have under "Other devices": Multimedia Audio Device with a yellow question mark on it. Double-click it and choose "Update Driver." Do an automatic install; if your chipset or sound card is included in the XP drivers, it should work on its own. Otherwise, tell me the name of your card.

I have Windows 98 Second Edition.

I don't have any peripherals installed anymore.

Sorry but I couldn't find a driver matching your references. Most of the time the sound cards or chipsets come from CREATIVE. But this time nothing... even from other manufacturers..

But if you can see the card number it means it is installed!!

In my opinion c3dxpci audio device is a default installation.

Otherwise go to Device Manager, Audio controller, and on CMI8738/C3DXPCI AUDIO DEVICE since that's what you see. double-click on it and check if it is enabled; if not, enable it. Check in Audio codecs and in Legacy audio devices.

Hello booster,

Thank you for helping me; I admit I’m completely lost. Here’s what I did as you told me:

In system, I went to properties and there in the general icon there are 2 options:
1 (which is checked) disable in this hardware profile
2 exist in all hardware profiles

In the resources icon:
1 (which is in blue) IRQ 09
2 I/O range 0xE800-0xE8FF

And in the SOUND control panel, there are no devices, whereas before I had sound.

I hope with these elements you’ll be able to find my problem.

uncheck the disabled box in this hardware profile and check the exists box in all hardware profiles and normally it should work...
