Redmi Note 11 dropped in water for 8 hours
mibasura2006 -
Hello everyone,
my Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 fell into the water, and I only realized it after a day inside.
I tried everything, using rice to dry it, a hairdryer, etc.... it still won't restart.
I wanted to know, based on your experience, if there's any hope by trying to deoxidize it with isopropyl alcohol? I saw that on YouTube..
If so, which parts can I deoxidize? In the YouTube video, they only talked about the motherboard. Do I also need to take care of the charging connector?
Otherwise, could changing any components solve the problem? (charging connector, battery?)
Otherwise, I guess I'll have to buy a new one, and my budget is tight.
Thank you for your response

Hello
IP 53 for Redmi Note 11 in general, so not very well protected, especially against dust.
You have to open it like any phone for a complete cleaning, it's rather a repair shop job.
Yes, isopropyl alcohol is commonly used on electronics, but some materials don't like alcohol which can act as a solvent.
Result after cleaning, we don't know. Not very optimistic in general with water.
Rice does absorb moisture, yes, but it's only good for the air inside the bag while waiting for it to reach the repair shop.
Good evening Lilou.
Thank you for your response. Well, I tried cleaning it this morning with isopropyl alcohol. I waited for the treated parts to dry properly. No luck, it still won't start.
I'm not going to insist. A friend is going to lend me his old Samsung A50 while I wait for better days.
Have a good evening.
