MSI laptop won't turn on.

Hello,

My MSI GE73 Raider RGB 8RF laptop hasn’t been turning on for a few days.
I was away from home over the weekend; before leaving, I shut down the computer and unplugged the power supply (in case there was a storm), and upon returning, nothing happened.

The charging indicator on the laptop no longer lights up, and the power button doesn’t do anything.

I thought perhaps the power supply was defective: I checked with a multimeter, and I do have 19.5V coming out of the cord as indicated on the adapter, however, when I plug the cord into the laptop, the charger’s indicator light goes off, and the voltage drops to 0.5V. To restore my normal voltage and the indicator light, I need to unplug my charger from the wall outlet and plug it back in. However, despite several tests (without the battery, laptop disassembled, blown out with air), I still encounter this voltage drop when I connect the charger to the laptop. I then bought a new charger thinking the problem was with the old one: no, I have exactly the same issue with the new charger.

Do you have any idea where the problem might be coming from?

Thank you

PS: the laptop is 4 years old, out of warranty

    Hello,

Try testing with another power strip!

Hello, I find it strange that the motherboard could have fried in my absence, without a power source, right?

        Hi,

This happened to me too, but with a purchased desktop.

I just turned it off without unplugging anything.

When I turned it back on in the evening, nothing, absolutely nothing.

It was still under warranty, I had exactly 1 month left on the warranty and sent it back to customer service with the invoice, etc., and they changed the motherboard for me.

The PC has been working fine ever since, and that's since 2010.

        It’s currently running Windows 10.

Have you also tested it on another power outlet?

      Re,

Or, leave the PC plugged in so that it charges completely (PC off but plugged in), with the power cable and the battery.

Leave it like this for two days without unplugging and come back in two days to see if it turns on.
