Micromania Refund

Hello everyone, today I wanted to pre-order Marvel Spider-Man 2 at Micromania. I made the payment, and the saleswoman told me that the pre-order is impossible because she couldn’t get the code, whereas I had already paid over €80 before she announced this news. It’s very rare for me to pre-order games, so I haven’t done it in a long time.

Do they have the right to charge me full price for a pre-order? A while ago, I had to pay €10 or more as a deposit for Deluxe versions, etc., and pay the rest upon release, but I’m going for the standard edition, so maybe things have changed since then. Besides Spider-Man 2, my last pre-order dates back to 2019 (for Rage 2, if I remember correctly) and a pre-order for a DLC a few days ago, but that wasn’t the same thing as it was directly on the PSN.

Anyway, the saleswoman told me that Micromania would refund me. She asked me to put my card in the box where I made the transaction to get back the money I spent. This is the first time I had this kind of refund; I didn't know it was possible to recover money on my card in a store. I got home, and nothing was in my account; maybe it takes time to receive my money. It seems strange to me, and of course, I checked the purchase on my Micromania account, and this transaction doesn’t appear in my purchase history. However, it’s still visible on my bank account.

I have serious doubts about the honesty of this company. A couple of months ago, I bought Hogwarts Legacy directly from the showcase, so it was new; it was even marked as a new product at the checkout. I paid, didn’t pay too much attention to the box in my bag, and I discovered at home that it was a used game— the codes for additional content had already been used. I think I will never make a purchase with them again; either they are scammers or they are incompetent and not professional at all.

    Hello,

I know nothing about games or their purchases and I do everything to make it last.

From a monetary standpoint, and before crying wolf, a merchant is perfectly justified in asking for payment in advance for an order that he himself must settle with his supplier; as far as I know, one pays, for example, for a new car or an online order before taking possession of it.

Refunds are made via the same method used for payment, in this case a credit card, and there’s nothing unusual about that either.
Aside from instant transfers, nothing appears in real-time on an account: there is a processing delay of 24 to 48 hours for the banking operation allowing, aside from the game of value dates, the banker to intervene on an operation if necessary.
Regarding credit cards, no transactions will be seen on one’s current account except for immediate debit cards, and one will only see them after 1 or 2 days on their deferred credit card balances.
Finally, a credit card transaction at a merchant is not in real-time; generally, the terminal connects at the end of each day or night to transmit the overall collection of the day (debit or credit) to the banking server which then deducts the relevant commissions from the merchant and transfers the balance to their account.
