Hello,

I have a Canon TS8350 printer. For some time now, I can no longer scan a document by directly activating the scanner from the printer's screen by selecting "save to PC"; I have to go through IJ Scan Utility, which works without any problem.

When I go through the screen, a window opens saying "configure the PC to start scanning." I haven't changed anything in the configuration since the installation.

I searched for solutions online and on the Canon website, but none mention scanning from the printer's screen; however, I always did it that way, and everyone says to use IJ Scan Utility.

Do you have any idea where this issue might be coming from? It's not a big deal since it works another way, but I was used to doing it from the screen.

Thank you very much for your involvement and the time spent helping.

    Hello,

I would hypothesize, especially if you are on Wi-Fi, a driver issue, which, not being updated in line with the regular fixes from Windows Update, turns out to be partially compatible and fails to support all the functions of the firmware integrated into the printer or the latest available driver.

Try using USB: SGDG (Sans Garantie Du Gouvernement, as we used to say back in the day).

    Thank you for the response.

I just tried it with USB, it works from the screen, it opens Omnipage.

Could it be a WiFi issue? I think the drivers are up to date because I checked when I had this problem.

You probably have the latest driver, but there’s no guarantee that it is perfectly (fully) compatible with the latest version of the constantly evolving system, and manufacturers are not concerned, for economic reasons, about developing for discontinued printers. Hence the malfunction with wifi, which only Canon could correct.

If the printer is close to the PC and you only use it for one computer, you can leave it connected via USB (the wifi doesn’t add anything to the situation).

If you later need to print from multiple PCs, you can try connecting the printer to a USB port on the router, which serves as a print server and allows it to be used by all devices connected to the wifi network.

The fact that it opens Omnipage likely means that the printer was supplied with and installed a version of this scanning software.

Thank you for all this information. I'm not going to worry about it anymore, I'll use IJ Scan Utility since that works. The printer is connected via USB to a desktop PC that doesn't have Wi-Fi, and via Wi-Fi to the laptop and smartphone.

    Have a nice weekend.

PS: I'm not marking it as resolved in case other responses come in.

    Hello,

Right-click on the Start button and choose Run:

In the little window that opens, type CNMNSST.exe and confirm. That should fix the issue.

To prevent this from happening again, go to the Task Manager by pressing the key combination Ctrl + Shift + Esc (the keys on the far left of the keyboard; do not use the Caps Lock key).

Go to Startup Applications and check that CNMNSST.exe is enabled. If it isn't, right-click on the line to enable it.

What one conceives well is clearly stated,
And the words to say it come easily.

Attention! The message contains an error!

It is CNMNSST.EXE and not CNMNSTT.EXE

    Hello Pierr10

I just did as you said and "Windows cannot find CNMNSST.exe" appears. I tried again, same result...

I just noticed that Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector is in the startup applications, and it's enabled. Isn't that the same as CNMNSST?

      I see I made a typo! It's CNMNSST.EXE.

      (I typed CNMNSTT.exe)

Still try it! But normally the service is started!

    Hello,

it works again: I changed the destination of "save to computer," confirmed it, and then restarted the computer. New successful attempt. Why wasn’t it working before??? The mysteries of computing, I'm sure.

In any case, thank you for your support Pierr10 and Georges.

I will mark it as resolved.
