Hello,

I'm reaching out to you because despite all my efforts, I'm struggling with a device.

In the device manager, at the top under "other devices", I have an unknown network controller.

The ID number is as follows:

PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_B852&SUBSYS_54711A3B&REV_00
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_B852&SUBSYS_54711A3B
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_B852&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_B852&CC_0280

The auto-install doesn't work, neither does Windows Update. I thought about the Wi-Fi driver, but the manual installation doesn't work either. I can't find any information, I'm at a loss. My Ethernet connection works just fine.

I did a clean reinstall of Windows 11, downloaded all the drivers for my motherboard (B650 Plus Wi-Fi) from the Asus website, and frankly, I'm out of ideas.... My PC seems to function very well under normal use, but having an old yellow triangle in my device manager bothers me a bit.

If you have a solution for me, that would be really REALLY nice because I've already spent quite a few hours on this, and I don't have extraordinary skills in IT :p

Edit: no idea if it's related, but when I launch a game, I crash (well, I used to crash with the old installation) after about 30 seconds. The graphics card driver is up to date. I haven't tested with the new clean installation of Windows 11 because I don't have anything to test it with. Stress test of the graphics card shows nothing unusual.

I'll try that as soon as possible. I've disabled the Wi-Fi controller in the BIOS in the meantime. I'll attempt the procedure tonight.

Impeccable, thank you very much!!! Everything is working.

However, if you have the time (and the desire) to explain to me how you found the driver, I'm interested. I did search through the manufacturer's IDs, did a lot of research, came across some shady sites, found inappropriate solutions, in short, I learned a couple of things but I spent a good number of hours on this problem. When I see how easily you solved the issue, it leaves me speechless :p Thanks again

You're welcome.

By doing a search on Google, the hardware identifier number corresponds to RTL8852BE.

Link for the driver, Microsoft site --> https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=RTL8852BE

Have a nice day.

Hello,

It is indeed a generic Realtek Wifi controller.

Was it originally under Windows 11, or was the PC migrated from Windows 10?

Before looking for a compatible driver with this data, we would need the model of the PC; some manufacturers (for example HP) are tricky, the download on their site is an executable that you have to click to unpack, then search in the unpacked files for the necessary file using the driver update.

Hello Brucine

It's a PC that I assembled, the Wi-Fi card is integrated into the motherboard, it's an ASUS b650 plus Wi-Fi

I have downloaded the corresponding drivers from the manufacturer's website but when I run the EXE, the window pops up and then immediately disappears and nothing happens

I tried both versions, one recent but without WQHL and an older one with the WQHL designation

In my case (HP), the downloaded executable had no other action than to quietly create these decompressed files in a folder that I wasn't allowed to choose (SWSetup, which does not prove that it's the same).

Try right-clicking on this downloaded file, running it as an administrator, and check if it didn't ask you if it created a new folder (in my case, it's at the root of C:).

It is well executed in admin and I see no trace of a file in the root of c:.

I tried to check in the BIOS, the Wi-Fi is indeed enabled. At the same time, I don't need it.

I will see if disabling it in the BIOS removes the unknown hardware error.

Have you checked that your security software is not blocking the exe?

I went to check, it's not downloading a file exe directly but a zip file, which does contain an executable AsusSetup.exe, but also an installation script Install.bat, it doesn't hurt to try.

I just checked. I only have the Windows firewall, nothing else in terms of firewall or other third-party software. I've still disabled everything but it doesn't change anything.

I haven't connected the receiver that plugs into the motherboard slots (sort of an antenna), but I don't really see how that could be related to my problem. Since I'm going completely crazy with this thing, I'm considering all possibilities :p

Edit: I don't know if this is what you wanted me to try, but I attempted to execute the .bat. It's the same. I get the command prompt popping up and disappearing instantly.
