HP OfficeJet 5740 Scanning Issues

Solved

Hello,

I can no longer scan with my HP Office 5740 printer. When I open the printer, the interface has changed for no apparent reason.

Before, there was a scanning dialog box, and now a table appears with: print, scan, fax.

When I click on "scan a document or photo. Open the scanning dialog box," nothing happens. No matter how much I insist, nothing.

I used the HP Scan and Print Doctor tool without success. The scanning test works fine.

I haven't found a solution to get the scanning dialog box to appear again.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the software without success. I turned off the printer and removed the USB cord as well, with no success.

Thank you for your help.

Hello and thank you for the feedback......

Personally, I would completely and cleanly uninstall this printer using Revo Uninstaller ► Available here (If you are not familiar with this tool, take the time to read its usage instructions on the link...)

Once the printer is uninstalled, I advise you to check the Windows 10 control panel to see if you spot any traces of this printer, and if so ► Uninstall the driver ...

Restart the PC ...then do a new installation via the HP website ► Here (From the Driver-Software link ....and not from HP Smart ...)

It is recommended to keep the printer powered on, unplug the USB cable from the PC side, and only plug it back in when prompted by the system during installation

Talk to you later for the results obtained

    Cheers

Thank you for your response jmarion3

I have Windows 10. I recently reset my PC using the HP procedure. I don't remember if I've done any scans since then.

    Thanks anyway for your help.

Thank you for the feedback, and I'm glad for you if everything is alright...

One thing that surprises me is that Windows 10S allows downloads other than going through the Microsoft Store???

I'll mark the topic as resolved

Have a good day as well

      See you later maybe

      Cheers

    Hello,

I wanted to know if you have the same problem. I have an HP OfficeJet 5200 printer, and when I scan a document, the content is slightly tilted to the right, meaning the lines are not parallel. I noticed this when I wanted to crop a document; here’s an example:

You can see that the text is not straight.

    Hello

No, I don't have that problem at all.

You can try using HP PRINT SCAN DOCTOR. That's what I do in case of an issue and generally speaking, the problem gets resolved.

    Best regards
