Printer that won't finish installing

Hello,
I just bought a Canon MG2555S printer and I can't finalize the installation? I'm on Windows 10, and once everything is installed, it says "the printer has been detected, please wait for the installation to finish" and nothing happens...
I had already installed it without any issues, but I wanted to set it up on a network and since I couldn't do that, I uninstalled everything and reinstalled it. Don't ask me why I did that, I don't know lol
So ?? What should I do?
At one point it told me that I didn't have all the necessary drivers, so it wouldn't install. I installed the software and drivers using the internet, and now I've reached the end but... the installation doesn't complete.

Hello....
Personally, I would do a clean uninstallation of this printer using Revo Uninstaller ► Here (if you're not familiar with this tool, take the time to read its user guide at the link)
Check in the control panel for traces of this printer...if there are any, uninstall the device!
Once everything is removed ► Restart the PC
Reinstall via the Canon website ► Here (if connected via USB, it should be unplugged, and reconnect it when prompted by the system during installation)
TTYL for the results obtained
Cheers

Hello,
So I uninstalled everything, even the hidden files, and I reinstalled the drivers and software, but the problem remains the same :( Could it be that I deleted drivers I shouldn't have???
Have a good day and good luck

Hello ...
Thanks for the feedback!
Weird thing you got .....
What message do you get exactly during the installation or its completion?
If you followed the uninstallation procedure exactly, you shouldn't have any issues..... unless the problem lies elsewhere ... for example Windows 10, as we don’t know exactly what was done before encountering this problem ...- Question ► Do you have the option to do a system restore to a date when this printer was working correctly?
See you!

So thank you for caring about my situation
when finalizing, once I reconnect the printer, it says "the printer has been detected, please wait for the installation to finish" as for restoring the computer to an earlier date, it seems impossible to me since it was the same day, just a few hours apart
-
Can you communicate the date when you tried to network this printer, which might have caused the mess .....
If this date is not very old and restore points are available at a date prior to your actions, you might have a chance to fix the issue......
I suggest you do as written below
Press the Windows + R keys on your keyboard simultaneously ► In the window that opens ► Type rstrui.exe ► the System Restore Wizard opens ► Click Next ► A new window opens ► Show more restore points ► Check for available dates prior to your issues...and if you find a date that suits you ► Next and you restore the system to that date, which will revert to the previous system configuration ...I wanted to network it with my husband’s computer, I installed the software on my husband’s computer and everything went well but I can't get it networked? Then they mention a router??? I don’t even know what that is so I tried to connect the computer to my LiveBox thinking it had Wi-Fi and since that didn't work I uninstalled and reinstalled.
ok thanks, I'll try to do that right away
Here I am on my husband's computer because my computer has been in recovery mode for a while ??? I don't know what to do anymore, I will get back to you in the afternoon and thank you for everything
The installation is done each time with a USB cable
So the restoration is finally complete but there's no sign of my printer. I restored to the day I installed my printer, but afterward, I thought I might have done better to restore to the 14th rather than the 15th of March (the 15th is when I installed my printer). I just tested it with the cable on my husband's computer and everything works.

I didn't understand everything ...
You did a system restore to a date when the printer was working, and you write that you can't find any trace of the printer ... which seems to mean that your restore point is earlier than the installation of that printer, so ...
If that is indeed the case and to be confirmed ► You would need to reinstall this printer via the Canon website as mentioned above in USB modeThank you for confirming
Bye+
I'm so scared of making mistakes again that I don't dare do anything anymore lol I tested the scanner which is recognized in the start menu and it works, but when I go to the printer I have to go into the settings and all I get is the blank page, that's to say the utility
If I understood correctly, the printer is now properly installed... except that you no longer have its shortcuts on the desktop, and if that's the case, just open the Windows 10 control panel ► Devices & Printers ► Right-click on your printer's icon ► Create a shortcut (you should get a small error message that you can ignore) and the shortcut will be created on the desktop
See you later for confirmation
So it doesn't work?? Indeed, I have the shortcut but I can't print and I don't have any tools like I had at the beginning.
So I just reinstalled the software to install Quick Menu and it tells me that the driver supporting Quick Menu is not installed, and of course, there is still the same message "please wait for the installation to finish"
-
Personally, I don't have a Canon so I don't know this printer...
- I just read on the Canon website that Quick Menu is an extension that can be installed independently and, unless I'm mistaken, is not included in the driver installation package.
- You need to download and install Quick Menu V.2.8.5 from the Canon website ► Here
I just simulated its installation and there was no problem, except that I don't have the printer installed.

I suggest you explore the Canon website ► Software... where you will find additional extensions to install. For example ► My Image Garden - Easy-WebPrint EX - My Printer.
What surprises me is that on your second PC everything is fine ... but it must have been installed correctly ► To be confirmed.
Question ► Was the printer delivered with its installation CD, which is not always the case nowadays, and that's why I suggested you go to the Canon website where all the drivers and software are up to date? ► If yes, I think it contains everything needed for the proper functioning of the printer.
Yes, of course, and I installed it from the software at least 5 times, then several times online as well, and I just tried Quick Menu, but the problem is not resolved :( I will check on the Canon website.
Oops, when I talk about software, I'm referring to the CD, excuse me. However, for my husband's, I installed it online, but at first, it worked very well on my PC.

I don't really know what to suggest anymore except to do a clean uninstallation with Revo like before, restart the PC, and try an installation not from Canon but from the CD that came with the printer, which, unless I'm mistaken, should contain everything that's possible to install for this type of printer on your PC.
Since when do you have this printer?
See you!
Hello .....
Indeed, it's very recent!
The issue is that this printer installed correctly on the second PC but not on this one after I uninstalled it ..... why?
I don't think we can blame the printer since it works on the second PC.
If you followed the uninstallation correctly, I really can't see why you can't reinstall it ..... unless Windows 10 is causing a problem?
Have you or are you going to try to do what I suggested just above?
See you!
PHEW!!!! A big thank you for your patience. While thinking about it, I realized that I had a switch behind my computer, so I turned everything off, then shut down the computer along with the switch and changed the location of all my USB ports to see if the problem could be resolved. I restarted everything, put in the CD and... GREAT!!! everything is working now.
THANK YOU a thousand times for your patience.

Can you explain to me why the catlorin maneuver solved his problem, you are a sorcerer, and you performed an incantation :)
jmarion3 what happened in this great mystery?
I don't know, I think that turning off the computer with the switch at the back must have solved everything.

Hello ......
Thank you for the feedback and I'm glad for you if everything is finally okay....
If you want my opinion, the issue with the buttons and others is pure coincidence because, unless I'm mistaken, the reinstallation via the CD provided with the printer was, I think, the solution to your problem....
Wishing you all the best and maybe see you later
Cheers
I had done it at least 5 times with the CD
plus I think I won't be long before another topic to share the printer with my husband lol
