Open SFR port

Hello, I'm leaving this comment because I'm stuck on how to open ports on my router. I used to do it, but now I can't remember what numbers go in the external port and in the destination port. I've done some research on how to open the ports and how to find the external and destination ports, but I found nothing clear, and when I find something a little clearer, it seems like nothing works. I hope I'm clear in this message. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

    Hello,

The external port is the port given by the user or the software that contacts your box via its internet IP. This port depends on the service and the software used. If it's a website hosted on your premises, it would be port 80 for http, or port 443 for https. For remote desktop, it's port 3389.

On the box, you will therefore specify this incoming, external port, and redirect the corresponding traffic to the local IP of a device, PC, server... indicating what the expected port will be for this device. Often, it will be the same as the external incoming port, 80, 443, 3389. However, in particular situations, two different ports could be used.

In what case do you open ports? Each use has its default port.

    Hello,

    SFR ....

Today, SFR extensively uses CGNat, which means sharing the public IPv4 address among several customers.

If you go into the box's interface and you have indicated IPV6, with CGNat IPv4, that's it, there's no possible port redirection to configure, so you have to (try to) ask them for a rollback to return to a custom static IPv4.

Otherwise, the server can be accessible via an IPv6 address by opening its address in the box's firewall, which limits to the IPv6 world, which is growing more and more as the IPv4 world stagnates.

    And there you go ....

But goodness, those line breaks are so annoying!!

I will check the link you provided, but from memory, I don't recall seeing a CGnat in my interface. What is the difference between IPv4 and IPv6? It's been a while since I did any "loading" of the interface. Normally, does opening other ports improve the speed? I have fiber.

Does opening other ports normally improve the throughput?

        No, not at all.

Check the interface of your router.

Hello, do you know if there is a website where we can find the list of SFR ports and their uses?
