Download Block on CITROEN Update

Hello

I can't download a 18Gb map update on the CITROEN Update software.

The download goes well until about 8Gb, then it slows down and freezes my machine;

I have a 2011 Mac Mini with 8Gb of RAM connected via a wired connection to a FREE fiber network.

My standard hard drive is not full (more than 100Gb available).

Do you have any ideas to solve this problem?

Best regards.

Hello,

Thank you for your idea with a download manager.

However, I have a question:

The file needs to be on the CITROEN Update application, how do I do that?? I don't know the procedure.

After the download, the application prepares my USB key and loads the file onto it in order to carry out the update on the car.

Hello,

I'm not sure that a download manager would do anything for this.

Downloading a file this large (for comparison, a Garmin South Europe update weighs around 4 GB) will depend on the connection speed, the computer's specifications, but also on the bandwidth provided by the server and the time of day (often, it works better at night).

In principle, the application does not directly install the file onto the USB key (which must be at least 32 GB and in FAT), which would actually add to the slowness, but compresses it on the hard drive from where it is then extracted to the key.

And this will of course go even worse as, at the same time as the download, the processor and RAM of the computer will be dedicated to other tasks, which again argues for a night installation.

The user manual file does not exist, it is not possible to find it...

Is it possible to take a screenshot of the user manual to install the map update once it is on the drive?

Thank you

Hello,

It is not possible to formally answer this question: the navigation system depends on the car model, its year, and possibly even its trim level; even if the appropriate file has been downloaded, the free update is only available for a limited time (usually 3 years).

The sources of information are either the car manual itself (paper or online), or the Citroën website, where you have to enter the vehicle's VIN number; I do not have a Citroën.

The update procedure would then, at least for recent models, go through the only USB-C port; on most brands, it is initiated through the appropriate menu in the navigation system settings; I understood that, on Citroëns, this menu is automatically activated when the key is connected with the engine running, see for example here:

Your initial problem was a file download issue, now each forum has its specialty, if you don't know how to implement your download, it's in the GPS forum or better yet in the car forum where you should ask the question. For the car forum, you can use the same username and password as on CCM.

No problem with the Ethernet cable from the box to the PC, but I have a blockage with the Wi-Fi as well because of low bandwidth; it must be overheating and blocking my box. Citroën update: 19 GB map takes more than 9 hours to download and for the system 5 GB takes 3 hours. This is only to download onto a 32 GB USB stick. Citroën update does everything from A to Z to create the USB stick. For the car, just put the stick in the GPS USB port with the engine running and disable the stop and start, it's 45 minutes to install the map and 30 minutes for the system. I put the map on one 32 GB USB and the system on another 32 GB USB.

When the installation is finished in the car, you must remove the stick before the GPS restarts; otherwise, it will prompt you to redo the update a second time.

C5 Aircross 2022 has 2 USB ports in the car. I have been doing this while driving since 2017 wave 2 on Peugeot 2008 and now on C5 Aircross wave 4; the maps for Peugeot and Citroën are the same.

Only the system files depend on your car's VIN.

The left chrome USB port is for connecting your phone with a cable for Android Auto and Waze, and the right black USB port is for the update stick.

Otherwise, for the maps, if you know your GPS wave 2 or 3 or 4, you have the links to download the map that corresponds to you on the Caradisiac forum/brands/Peugeot/3008/

On page 1, you will see all the maps to download since 2017.

Above all, use only Citroën Update to avoid any problems later on. This software does everything and will only give you what’s suitable for your car once the VIN is entered into the Citroën Update software or application.
