Hello, I bought this printer with scanning-to-email function.

The Brother solution from the printer doesn’t work: error message: unable to open app, failed to launch selected app, make sure the app is selected, etc...

The second solution with their CC4 software: scan and click Email, error message: please configure a default email app ??

On Windows 10: the default app is "Mail" and now I don’t see what to do, my server being AOL

Brother is not forthcoming in their response

If you have a Brother laser, please help me

Cheers

    Hello,

User manual page 84: the mail client must be specified not only in the default apps settings but also in the same menu, at the bottom, by protocol, for the mailto protocol.

Notwithstanding, Webmail applications (including probably Courier) are not supported; try with an email software, and it only supports from the printer button Outlook (for Windows).

Hi, thank you for your quick reply. It does not reassure me if we rule out Webmail apps: the Brother characteristics are false.

how to verify that the email app supports Mail-to

I only have "Mail" as the default app: then it opens Google, Edge, Microsoft Store and that's it, I'm stuck there, no way to go further.

I'm on AOL, but that's not an app because I go through Google.

    Best regards

It seems evident that even when performing the operation not from the printer button but from its ControlCenter software, this function is available only for Outlook; otherwise you must normally scan to image or PDF and attach the result to an email (page 130 of the manual). Regarding Webmail, and if the two settings I indicated are not enough, there is no other solution than to use Outlook. On the other hand, I have a real mail software and an Epson scanner that has this functionality which I have never used: the result is that you must specify the recipient and then write the message. I don’t see much time saved compared to scanning to PDF, composing the message, and attaching it, also offering the advantage of being able to archive the scanned document elsewhere than in the sent messages.

Hi, obviously if we need to perform several manipulations, it’s easier to send the document to the PC and retrieve it on the email.

Brother hasn’t replied to me yet on this subject.

    Thanks again for your help
