Localization with Picasa 3

Hello,

I know that some people don't like Picasa 3, but personally, I find that organizing photos is easier than with Google Photos.

Here's my question.

I reinstalled Picasa 3 on Windows 11 very easily, then I made the FixPicasaMap.reg correction as I did before, but this time it doesn’t work anymore; the location isn’t being retrieved: probably due to a bad browser. Most likely because we no longer have Internet Explorer.

Does anyone have a tip to get the location working again knowing that I am using Google Chrome (we can also try Edge)?

Thanks in advance

Yes, Picasa is a must-have in my opinion, also because it allows for editing photos in external programs.

As for the localization, it still works on W10 with a registry file called "fixPicasamap.reg". I recommend you search for this topic using that term.

Hello,
I'm sorry to bring up this question again, but I'm still using Picasa3 to update the location of photos (poorly located photos) from third parties without geolocation.
My problem today with Windows 11 is that the chip allowing me to see the photo location in Picasa is no longer displaying.

I tried modifying the registry value...

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION]

by setting 2af8 for picasa3.exe

... but it doesn't work. With a value of 0, the map displays, but not the location point.

Does anyone have an idea?
If not, any suggestions on how to easily move the location coordinates of a photo by dragging it on a map (satellite view)?

Thank you for your help.

Hello
It's not a question of liking or not, but rather that it has been abandoned for a long time and therefore it will eventually stop working altogether, it's inevitable.

Indeed, various programs relied on IE modules for certain functions, but under Win 11 this no longer exists.

I don't know if there's a trick for that; it's possible there isn't, and each Windows update risks permanently blocking Picasa.

It therefore seems inevitable to move on anyway; there are also other programs, but I haven't found anything that resembles it, if that's what you're looking for.

Sorry.
