Self-assigned IP address for Wi-Fi

Hello,

I am a student, and an hour ago, I wanted to test for the first time the connection sharing since I bought the MacBook Air from a friend, using internet sharing via an Ethernet cable. However, when I tried to enable internet sharing, a message appeared:

I clicked on "start"

Noticing no change, I abandoned the idea and wanted to reconnect to my university's wifi, but the icon next to the wifi is YELLOW and it says: "Wifi has the self-assigned IP address 169.254.205.13 and will not be able to access the internet."

Here is some additional information:

I really need your help! After I plugged in this cable, a setting must have been changed, I asked the owner but she told me that the problem resolved itself, but I’m afraid that is not the case for me! :( I really need the internet and this computer will not be of any use to me without it,

Thank you so much for your help, I hope I’ve been clear enough! :)

If you unplug the Ethernet cable and restart the MacBook Air, things should normally get back to normal.

According to your screenshot, the Ethernet connection seems to be working, though. However, your description is not very clear: enabling internet sharing means allowing another device to connect to your connection. Is that what you were trying to do (your "Network" system preferences panel doesn't correspond to that)?

    Hello at your place!

I just turned the computer back on and everything works! Thank God, I didn’t think of doing that ???? and yes, you were right, that’s what I wanted to do but I think I didn’t send the right screenshots, my mistake! I’m grateful to you, the solution was so simple!

    Hi,

from your screenshot, you're showing ethernet there, not wifi, right?

If you've verified the wifi access point, you should be able to delete it the same way, right?

Hello, yes! Here is the wifi section:

“Wifi has the self-assigned IP address 169.254.205.13 and will not be able to access the internet”

And here’s what a friend sent me regarding what is displayed for her, while connected to the same wifi but in a different location (there are several modems (public?) on our campus):

Second point, I have disabled the internet access point and the problem is that even after that, the IP address or something seems to have changed somewhere but I can't figure out where the problem comes from :/

Can you zoom in on your images so we can see them better?

    And... Here we go!
But goodness, those line breaks are so annoying!!
