Hello*

How can I block the automatic time setting? My daughter changes the current time, so the parental control is no longer activated. Is it possible?

Thank you in advance*

Hello,

The time and date setting can be found in the smartphone's Settings:
Settings => Global Management => Date and Time
You just need to disable the automatic settings to set any time you want

Therefore, your daughter should no longer have access to the smartphone's settings.

I have a suggestion, with no certainty that it will work:

Download the free app AppDefender from the Play Store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.telemarks.security.appguard&hl=fr

This app allows you to set a password for certain applications.
Now, Settings is an app like any other (it is in the list of applications on the smartphone).
There is therefore a good chance that we can block access to Settings with AppDefender.

You can already test it on your own smartphone before installing it on your daughter's smartphone.
To help you, see the folder created by our colleagues at PC Astuces here: https://www.pcastuces.com/pratique/mobile/bloquer_application_android/page1.htm

Hello,

Why not give it a try, even though I'm more in favor of confiscation software 1.0, but I doubt the result when it comes to system applications if the phone is not rooted.

Hello,

Another solution would be to set the Wi-Fi connection times from your router.

This article is provided as an example;

Hello,

Provided that the smartphone is not connected to 4G!

The solution remains Family Link with possibly some additions as I mentioned.

Hello,

I don’t know how old your daughter is, but the best solution is to explain to her why you decided to install parental controls on her mobile phone, making it clear that it’s not to harm her but for her own good.
If you calmly explain all the reasons that led you to do this in a private conversation, then you are more likely to have her accept it. Also, remind her that trust between parents and children is the source of greater freedom for her.
If this trust is broken between you, then she will suffer the consequences, such as parental controls on her phone, and if she continues to cheat, the confiscation of her phone or even the cancellation of her phone plan, replacing it with a minimal plan: a few texts, a few minutes of calls, and nothing more!
This is called participating in her education and reminding her that in life, there are rules that must be respected!

Hello,

I want to point out that Zephirin-1973 asked a purely technical question on a forum dedicated to technical inquiries.
That's why, although I generally agree with what you wrote, I limited myself to trying to find a solution to his problem.

In the two lines he wrote, he didn't provide us with any information about what he might have tried to do with his daughter. As we know nothing, I think we shouldn't give him lessons on how to raise teenagers. Personally, I don't feel authorized to do so, even though I've had my own experience with my kids.

This was Zephirin-1973's first question as he just registered on the forum. I think he was expecting something different than moralistic lessons on parent-teen relationships!

Thank you for your response!
This is not a matter of education, indeed.. I just wouldn't want my 13-year-old daughter to be able to change the time on her phone and to not use her phone between 11 PM and 7 AM... these phones have a monstrous influence in their lives, and discussions between teenagers and parents are certainly not lacking, I assure you! I am a mother of four children, and my daughter is the youngest, and phones did not take on such a proportion for the older ones...

Hello,
If it's a non-usage between 11 PM and 7 AM, then only confiscating the device every night will meet your need.
On a computer, one can imagine that by creating standard accounts for the children and an administrator account for the parents, it will be difficult for the children to circumvent the parental control setup. Furthermore, the parent can schedule their internet box to turn off during the night.
On mobile phones, this concept of administrator accounts and standard accounts does not exist.
While there are many applications that can help limit phone usage, it is easy for the phone user (the child) to find online how to uninstall this application or change its settings (like your daughter does by changing the time zone) or to switch to WiFi.
Unless you make your daughter sleep in a Faraday cage (an enclosure that is shielded from all electromagnetic waves and therefore from all telecom and WiFi networks), there is no real solution other than dialogue with the child, arguing that the next time you catch her in the act, you will confiscate her phone for a week.
Also explain to her that sleeping next to a mobile phone placed on the bedside table or worse, under the pillow, is absolutely not good for her health because the mobile constantly emits waves, and the less it can connect to the network, the stronger it will emit!
