Hello.
I have a Tomtom Go Premium GPS that keeps turning off and on at random times.
I changed the adapter in the cigarette lighter and it still turns off.
I plugged the Tomtom into an adapter at home and it doesn't turn off there.
I put my old Garmin back and it doesn't turn off either.
I'm not sure what else to try to find a solution.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello,
Sorry for my late reply, but I mostly travel by bus.
Today, I made a 20-kilometer one-way trip in map display mode and returned in guided mode, no crashes.
It's really random.
I checked, and if I unplug the cigarette lighter while driving, I get a message saying it will turn off.
So I can rule out a power issue.
I think I'll follow what the support uncle suggested.
1. Note down the addresses I want to keep
2. Reset the GPS
3. Do not take a backup
4. Re-enter my addresses
5. Configure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
I will get back to you in some time; I have a trip planned for 100 kilometers this weekend or Monday, which will allow me to test it.

Hello,
Don't touch anything or you'll lose the warranty...
For the TomTom, send it back to customer service to claim the warranty.

After a little note to say thank you, it’s always appreciated...

I have overlooked other types of failures because they are more "subtle" and quite rare.
-Firmware issue: I don't really believe in that; in such cases, the device usually reboots in a loop systematically rather than randomly; update the firmware if that's the case.
-Software bug: it is usually related to mapping and linked to a programmed route, the device crashes when searching for a specific address or passing through it because it is poorly or not referenced in the mapping; there is no solution if the mapping is up to date as long as the manufacturer or its mapping provider has not fixed the bug.
In any case, do a "differential diagnosis" if the GPS, like mine, is equipped with position simulation and indoor search: plug it into the power outlet, simulate a usual route where the problem occurred, and see what happens.

Hello,
Hold down the power button without releasing it to force the shutdown.
Then...
When the GPS is off, press the "Power" button without releasing it for at least 30 seconds; after that, you should see a black screen with white text, then normally the TomTom should work correctly again. This hidden function allows you to repair certain corruptions in the TomTom...

Hello,
Does the Garmin work in the car as well, or only on mains power?
If it doesn't work in the car, is the cigarette lighter adapter itself in the bag (at one point, I used to smoke in the car and used it alternately to smoke and charge, there's always some ashes left).
If it works in the car, then it's your Tomtom's battery that needs changing; generally, it doesn't cost a fortune for No Name brands and it's not always easy to find (make sure you have the right references) but the manipulation isn't always straightforward (for example, on my Garmin, I also had to "invest" in a Torx 5 screwdriver, I didn't have that tool).
