Hello,

I would like to retrieve data from an internal hard drive to a laptop
I bought a SATA/USB adapter cable, but nothing appears in 'My Computer'

I would like to specify that I hear the sound indicating that the USB connection is effective and that the power (blue) and access (red) LEDs are lit on my adapter cable

I am on Windows 10, my laptop is new, it's a PB

Could you please help me

Thank you.

    Hi,

    Is it a 2.5" disk?

    Hello,

"internal hard drive" of a desktop PC? So a 3.5-inch drive, you would then need a SATA/USB adapter with an external power supply, as USB power is generally not sufficient.

    3.5" requires 12V + 5V

    USB only provides 5V

You need a USB SATA dock with power supply.

Or an enclosure with a power supply.

    Thank you for your answers.

So I need to buy an adapter that I plug into the mains.

Before I make this purchase (do you have any idea of the price, please?), how can I be sure that my internal hard drive is still accessible?

    Thank you.

The price may depend on where you buy it, check eBay, Aliexpress, Amazon, etc. your favorite shopping sites.

You can also search using the keywords HDD Docking Station

Then see if the disk is accessible, we don’t have a crystal ball, it depends on how it has been handled, you need to try to know.

    Good evening everyone,
But he's talking about a laptop!
"recover data from an internal hard drive to a laptop" Yes, the HDD of a PC (tower or desktop) is 3.5", but what do you want to power on the laptop (2.5")?
I don't understand your solutions. Or is he opening his PC to connect his SATA cable? Is that it?
Hence the "SATA/USB adapter with external power supply" my bad... Sorry.
