Hello,
I wanted to start a repair on my nearly full 1TB HDD, but it is currently still at 17% of step 1 and I've started the repair at 6:15 PM
Moreover, it indicates 28 hours before completion and that time keeps increasing
Do you think I should stop everything or be patient?

Hello.
<<< I therefore decided to see a professional to replace the hard drive with a new one >>>
You should have waited a bit. They surely would have suggested a hard drive reliability test. A scandisk doesn't take that long. 12 to 15 hours for a 2TB HDD, but for a drive in good working condition. If there are bad sectors, it stops and then moves on to other sectors, and depending on its condition, the scandisk can indeed take more than 72 hours.
We don't know what the brand and model of the PC were, but maybe the HDD was accessible and you could have changed it yourself. Then, if needed, they would have provided you with the steps to reinstall Windows. Well, too bad since the work has been done. But that would have saved you some money.
See you later...

After a scan with CrystalDiskInfo, it detected an error on my HDD regarding the sectors, so I decided to see a professional to replace the hard drive with a new one (knowing that the one I had has already been in place for 2 years).
I was still able to recover my important documents, and too bad for the rest; the majority of the files on the hard drive were for games, so I will reinstall them.

Good evening,
according to crystaldiskinfo there are more than 3000 bad sectors so I made this decision to make sure I don't have any issues for my return, which is in less than a week
I could have done it myself but I really didn't feel like doing the operation to change a hard drive especially on a laptop that cost me a lot (Acer Predator Helios 300) and that I need in a short time
And for the Windows reinstallation, it's not necessary since I have another hard drive in my PC (an SSD) that contains Windows and all my important files
Thanks anyway for the help
