Remote wallpaper change

Hello,
I don’t know if I’m in the right section; if not, I apologize.
My issue is as follows: I wanted to use a PC that I rarely use, and I came across a photo of my ex with her new partner as the wallpaper. I asked my son, who uses the PC daily, for an explanation, and he informed me that this photo has appeared for several months, and despite changing the wallpaper multiple times, it keeps coming back.
I asked my ex for an explanation, but he doesn't understand, he said.
I’m trying to understand how this photo appears on my wallpaper and whether it’s possible for it to show up without my ex’s knowledge or if it’s a maneuver on his part to provoke me, and how to delete it permanently.
Thank you in advance.

Hello

If this PC was accessible before by your ex, he could very well have installed something to enable that, as long as the PC is connected.
Of course, he needs to be somewhat handy with computers (and I'm not talking about hacking here) without being a geek either.
There is also the possibility that your son likes photography and doesn’t dare to tell you, but that’s a human problem rather than a technical one.

Best regards

Yes, my ex used to have access to this computer, and he has already messed around with something on it to monitor what my teenager accesses on the PC, so he has a minimum of computer knowledge.
I know he is mad at me, that he quickly got with this person to forget me, but I also know that he thinks about me 24/7... anyway, that’s another topic not to be discussed here :)
Can I check if a remote control software is installed on my computer?
Your last comment made me smile, no, my son is not a fan of my ex or his new partner.
Thank you for taking the time to respond, it’s so nice of you.

Indeed, the non-technical situation does not concern me (nor is it of interest to me).

Honestly, it is complicated to know if we can see something. It will depend on its level; if it's a simple classic program, it will appear in the list of programs in the control panel.
We still need to know which one, but that's a lead.

Otherwise, THE good way is to reset the PC, either reinstall Windows with or without data loss but without keeping the programs. They will need to be reinstalled.
This way, whatever has been installed will be wiped, access accounts too. It's radical, and on top of that, it will be good for the PC :-)

It's HERE.

Hello,

Some information about the brand and model of the PC... wouldn't hurt... also the version of Windows...?? if it is indeed Windows the OS of this computer..??

This photo must be in a folder somewhere on the computer's disk..

It will be possible to guide you with the requested information.

Good evening :) thank you for the reply
Oh, I'm sorry, I'm really not good at anything related to computers. I didn't think to check beforehand.
It's a Windows 10, but as for the brand, I can't tell you, it's a second-hand one and I only have the brand of the case, Aero Cool... Sorry, that's not much help either.

Hello,

A plausible explanation would be that your computer and your ex's are simply connected to the same Microsoft account. In this case, the desktop background will be automatically synced across all devices.

Good evening,
No, impossible, I've just realized that my son's computer was purchased after my separation, so he couldn't have accessed it.
The problem seems to be resolved; he just replied to me, but I don't know how it could have happened.
Anyway, the important thing is that it's sorted out.
Thank you all for your responses.
Have a great evening!

No, it's impossible, I just realized that the computer my son has was bought after my separation, so he couldn’t have accessed it.
At least not directly, because a specific wallpaper doesn’t install itself. So if he has never had access and your son has never done it himself, there is still something not right.
Computing is not magic; there is always a logical reason.

Indeed, this is not normal; I dare believe he did not do it on purpose. Otherwise, it's concerning because if he was able to change my wallpaper to show me his new partner to annoy me, he could be capable of accessing private information.
I admit that even if it's resolved, I want to understand how this could have happened.

My opinion is that it is not settled.
Now it's your life :-)
Have a good Sunday.

I share Madmyke's opinion, the worm is always in the fruit...

You could look for this image in the folders on your PC...

It might be an image that changes from time to time and the same ones come back... Especially if you have a "personalized" wallpaper that cycles like a slideshow...

-- go check this tutorial, it will explain how to change the wallpaper, even the slideshow type

It's up to you to go in, find the said photo and delete it, that way it should not reappear... since it will no longer be in the slideshow loop... I suppose.
