Unable to choose a wallpaper image

Hello,

Following a bug on my computer, I had to reset it (I should specify that I was already on Windows 10 before this operation). Once finished, I wanted to choose an image for my desktop background and there’s a small problem; I can only choose a solid color... No matter how hard I try to pick one by selecting "image" and "browse," it constantly reverts back to "solid color."

On the other hand, I have no trouble choosing a personal image for the lock screen...

I’ve looked around but I couldn’t find a solution on the forums. Thank you in advance if someone has experienced this issue and can help me!

    Hello,

    try this

    1/ activate a theme
right-click on the desktop --> personalize --> themes --> theme settings --> activate a default Windows theme (whichever one)

2/ go to your image folder --> right-click on the image you chose --> Set as desktop background
    - go back to themes --> save your image (in my themes) giving it a little name

    System file check and repair
    Ctrl + ALT + Delete
    Launch Task Manager
Click on File > Run new task
type: cmd and check the box Create this task with administrative privileges
type or copy/paste in the command prompt window:
sfc /scannow (space between sfc and / then press enter on the keyboard)

if there are errors: in the command prompt copy/paste:

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

(then press enter on the keyboard)

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

(then press enter on the keyboard)

the process takes about 20 minutes, do not open other applications
    see if it works.

    check this setting
right-click on the Start button-->Control Panel (with display set to "small icons")
Ease of Access=>Improve the readability of the computer
scroll down to the line-->"Make items on the screen easier to see"
check that the box "Remove background images" is unchecked.

The "remove background images" checkbox is unchecked.

I ran the system scan and it says, "The Windows Resource Protection program found no integrity violations."

Then I typed "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth" and here is what it says: "Deployment Image Servicing and Management Tool
    Version: 10.0.14393.0

    Image version: 10.0.14393.0"

    I'm waiting to see...

Can you tell me which version is installed on your Windows 10?
    1511 or 1607?
Keyboard shortcut Windows +i or go through Settings
    System--> system information --> version

Can you do: refresh the PC or check for Windows updates (searching for updates)
refreshing will reset the correct default settings

After the updates, it doesn't change anything... I think I'm going to give up for now. I'm leaving for 10 days and I'll check it out when I get back! If I find the solution, I'll share it as it might be helpful...
Anyway, thanks for the advice anyway!

    Hello everyone,

I recently had this case for a friend's PC, and the problem was that Windows had not been activated...
    Just for your information.

    Best regards

    • Search for Windows Update.. restart the operation initially --> restart your PC
    • If that doesn't work, we'll move on to a clean install --> clean

We create the DVD or USB Key with Rufus
    • explanations to come...

-Let me know the status of the situation

    Hello!

I know, I’m bringing up the topic again, but I’m exactly in the same situation. I had to reset my PC yesterday, I was on W10 and I still am.

Has a solution been found since all this time? I’m having a hard time finding solutions online. I still find it strange that this problem is so uncommon...
