Lexmark CX510de Driver Update

Hello,
I need to update my driver for Mac 11 because the current one no longer allows me to print in color (it shows "black only" even though my color cartridges are full). However, when I try to uninstall the software, the following message appears: "Uninstall continuation impossible. Please wait for the end of the prints and restart the uninstallation." The problem is that I have no pending prints, so I'm stuck.
Does anyone have a solution to my problem? I would be infinitely grateful.
Best regards,
Fanny

Hello,

It seems that the drivers exist for macOS 11:

https://www.lexmark.com/fr_fr/printer/7777/Lexmark-CX510de

If needed, from System Preferences / Printers... right-click on the selected printer to request to Reset the printing system, then install the latest version of the driver and restart the Mac.

Hello Francis,
Thank you very much for replying to me so quickly.
There is indeed a driver, but my problem is that I can't uninstall the old one to install the new one (because of pending prints that don't exist).
I tried to follow your recommended steps, but the system tells me that this will remove all my existing printers and scanners. So, I'm hesitant. What should I do once everything is removed?
Thank you very much for your help.

Yes, the reset will erase everything.
You will then need to reinstall the drivers and designate the printer again...

But you can try something else first:

In System Preferences, select your printer, and click on the “Open Print Queue...” button on the right.

When the list is displayed, if there is indeed a print job in progress, delete it. Otherwise, try clicking on Pause at the top left...

It doesn't change anything either...
So I will think about resetting the printing system.
Thank you so much for your help, it's really very kind.

What you can still try is to delete the file

org.cups.PrintingPrefs.plist

Which should be located in YOUR user library, more precisely here:

And to access Your User Library, normally hidden:

Hello Francis,
I apologize for reaching out to you once again.
First of all, I wanted to let you know that I solved the "black mode only" issue: it was a misconfiguration in the printer's printing settings. I hadn't noticed it...
Anyway, before this, I deleted the file from the library and reset the printing system, then installed the latest version of the drivers and restarted the Mac.
Since then, I no longer have access to the printer's scanner: when I click on Scan/open scanner, the window that opens is the same window that appears when you click on Open print queue.
Do you have a solution?
I thank you very much.
Best regards,
Fanny

Dear Francis,
I forgot to mention a second issue: I had a second EPSON Aculaser C3800 printer in Bluetooth. By right-clicking on the Lexmark to reset the printing system, the Epson printer was also removed... The problem is that I cannot reinstall it because the system no longer offers it to me (when I click on the +).
Could you please advise me on what to do?
With my sincere thanks for your help.
Best regards,
Fanny

Hello,

You will probably need to reinstall the drivers corresponding to the affected Mac system, which can be found here:

https://www.epson.fr/support?productID=1995&os=38#drivers_and_manuals

And if the connection with this printer is made via Bluetooth, and that connection has been lost, you may need to re-pair the Bluetooth between the Mac and the printer.

Check the printer manual to put it back in pairing mode, and this Apple assistance:

https://support.apple.com/fr-fr/guide/mac-help/blth1004/mac

Note: it is not certain that this pairing needs to be redone, but the reinstallation of the drivers does.

Dear Francis,
Thank you very much for your response regarding the Epson! I'll take a look.
Concerning my question at 9:35 about the Lexmark, would you be kind enough to respond to me as well?
Thanks again for your help.

Oops... I didn't see the message from 9:35 AM.

It's surprising this message if the drivers and software have been downloaded and installed... and the Mac has been restarted...

From the Preview application, when you go to the File menu, do you have the option "Import from...your printer"?

It's my fault, I should have only sent one message, I'm really sorry.
I wanted to say beforehand that if it's easier for you and if we can hide this thread, I can give you my phone number and you can call me with a blocked number, (or I can call you).
Otherwise, well yes! And so, I manage to open the scanner. But when I go through system preferences, it still doesn't work. It's strange, isn't it?
Thank you for your response,
Fanny

No, help is only provided on the forum since the purpose of a forum is to benefit everyone from the experiences of users and participants :).

If going through system preferences doesn’t work, it might be that the scanner is not recognized because it’s too old or that its scanning application is too outdated...

If it works with Preview, the best option is to use Preview,
And if that is not really satisfactory, there is the option of using the VueScan application. A paid application, but really well made. There is a possibility to test it in demo version, and then to switch to one of the 2 paid versions, depending on whether you need to scan slides or not...

My printer-scanner is from 2016. Do you think it is actually too old?

No - Indeed.

Once the necessary drivers and applications are installed, it may sometimes be necessary to restart the Mac... so it's worth testing, if that hasn't been done already...

I've already done it, but I might be able to do it again, I'll see.
In any case, thank you so much for taking all this time to help me, it's priceless.
I wish you a very beautiful summer.
