Hello, on the Ethernet port of my motherboard on my Windows 10 central unit, a yellow light stays constantly on even when I plug in the cable and even when I turn it off, and I cannot use the internet. I have reset the network settings, but the problem persists. When I turn off my PC, the yellow light stays on; I have to unplug the PC from the outlet for the light to go off. It tells me that the network card driver is up to date, and I have tested 2 Ethernet cables with no result. I need help, please.

Hello,
the fact that the motherboard link stays on even when the PC is off isn't magic, it's just normal; do some research on the wake on lan function.
Check the status of your Ethernet card in the Device Manager.
What is this Ethernet port connected to?

In the manager, there is no problem; they say that the Ethernet driver is up to date, all my drivers are up to date, and the port, well, it's the motherboard port.

Can you answer the questions, please?
What is the cable connected to on the other end?
For the drivers, you shouldn't trust Windows.

Well, it connects to my box but the light doesn't turn on on the box.

That's not a good sign, yes...
When the cable is unplugged, is the light still on?

Jerome

Yes, even when the cable is unplugged.

You'll need to invest in a network card then.
or a gigabit/USB 3.0 adapter.

But how can I tell if I have USB 3.0?

They are blue.

But on my PC, I have 6 USB ports and none of them are blue.

I mean physically, in the grip.
Is your thing old?

Jerome

Well, I don't really know, it was a Windows 7.

But can a USB 3.0 work on a 2.0 port?

yes,
but at reduced speed, typically 480Mbit/s

And if I take a USB 2.0 and plug it into a USB 2.0 port, will it also run at 480 Mbit/s?

yes, of course (at most).
but since we're investing, we might as well get something that doesn't belong to the past, at least something that can be useful a little longer.

Sorry to disturb you again, but I retested it and on my box there was a yellow light for about 2 seconds and it turns off. It keeps doing that continuously.

Hi,
There's no need to start a new discussion, just go buy an Ethernet card instead.

Maks, I'm sure it works.
