Hello,
for years, I received a weekly newsletter.
I’m no longer interested, but I can't stop these emails.
- the unsubscribe link doesn’t work
- changing the preferences in my account hasn’t changed anything
- I politely asked the administrators to forget me
Nothing works. Today, I want to log back into my account to try something else, and as if by chance, my password no longer works. I request a reset: I get no response.
Does anyone have an idea? What do you do when you’ve tried everything and these people refuse to understand anything?
PS: it’s about Internaute, just to name them, lol....

Hello,
Unless I'm mistaken, you receive these letters in your inbox. Your attempts to unsubscribe demonstrate the obvious unwillingness of the site's administrators.
One solution: most email software and webmail programs have a filter that allows you to apply treatment to incoming messages of your choice. You can identify the site by the name you provided and automatically send all emails to the trash.
In other words, you will remain subscribed against your will but will no longer read these messages.
It is also possible to report a change of email address to them, hoping that they approve a fake address and that future messages will get lost in the stratosphere. After all, they are capable of keeping both addresses.
Perhaps there are other methods that readers could suggest to you.
Best regards

Hello,
I am sending you this method that I cannot evaluate, as I am with Orange:
https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-35355902-anti-spam-free
It should be presented as explained in the images here:

Here you go Georges, I did everything as it should be, but I have an error message!
Do you see anything wrong?

Hello Pauline,
missing required attribute: value means missing required parameter: value
In the screenshot, none of the filtering fields are filled in, namely:
Named header, contains: copy the exact address of the sender, as it appears in the messaging
From, contains: the sender's name, probably The Internet user, respect the spelling (uppercase/lowercase)
Try it this way and check if that is enough to block future sends.
If necessary, add:
Content, contains: a meaningful word that appears consistently in the email, but it should be changed if The Internet user changes their introduction text for example.
Keeping in a SPAM folder can be replaced with putting in the trash.
See you later.

Thank you for your understanding, Georges!
There you go, it's done. For now, I've simply put the exact address through which I receive these spams in the header.
I just chose "Delete" instead of "Put in spam folder"... I hope it works, otherwise, I'll make adjustments.
I'll wait a week, and if that's not enough, I'll move on to phase 2 Content, contains: a significant word that consistently appears in the mail, but it would need to be changed if the user changes their introduction text, for example.
In any case, I'll provide feedback here to move things forward. If it works, it could always help others...
Thanks again.

Hello Georges! Well, the filter didn't work!
They are quite strong, I must admit.
So I will test: Putting it in the Spam folder (instead of deleting) and I will apply phase 2 that you recommend.
As usual, I'll keep you posted... Have a great day!

Hello Pauline,
Thank you for the feedback, which I didn’t expect to be so quick. Indeed, by putting the messages in a folder, we can better see if the filter worked and if the parameters need to be changed.
You can also create two different filters simultaneously, only using one criterion and a destination folder different from spam.
Just make sure to delete the current filter beforehand to avoid confusion in filtering.
Have a great weekend and see you soon.

Hello,
Could you provide the title of the Linternaute newsletter that seems to be causing issues so we can test and possibly report the problems? Weekend, Cinema, etc.

Hello Noctambule28,
Thank you for your help. I was also thinking of trying out this site that I consulted before (a long time ago), without signing up, but I'll leave it to you and remain attentive to Pauline.
edit: I realize upon accessing it that it's a site from the group, so there can't be any bad intentions. Probably just a bug.
Best regards

Hello, if you are on Gmail, there is a function directly at the bottom of the email to unsubscribe. Otherwise, you can mark it as spam; you'll still receive the emails, but they will be deleted after 30 days.
You're right, Georges, well said! I'm considered tenacious...
So, even if I have little moments of discouragement... I never really give up (right now, I'm recharging my batteries ;-) )
When I wanted to check my filter, I couldn't find it! Maybe I saved it incorrectly, I don't know. In any case, I put in another one and I'm waiting for Saturday...
Thank you for your encouragement.

Good evening Pauline,
That's a good time. I still recommend leaving this filter on for a few weeks to ensure that no messages other than those from L'Internaute are deleted.
Unless you are sure about the chosen setting. In any case, you could always check the trash of the messaging system to see what's there, knowing that there is a delay (which can be adjusted in principle) before they are themselves deleted.
Have a good evening and see you next time.
Georges

There remains the filter, which you hinted at...
I must admit they are strong because I requested that they always go to the spam folder and it doesn't work.
Honestly, this is the first time I have seen such resistance!!!
My browser, Opera, is equipped with an antispam feature. Fortunately, I don't receive ads in the form of pop-up windows, but I do sometimes get unsolicited messages, especially in my Orange inbox, although it's really sporadic. The filter settings are mainly used to automatically sort certain emails into folders, including newsletters. But I could clean it up the way I indicated to you.
You didn't mention which email service you use, but you should be able to take control of it by contacting your ISP, at least if they are one of those you can reach by phone.
In the meantime, I think the filter will be helpful for you.
Best regards
It's not our policy; it's the same management as here.
However, depending on the webmail or email client, certain features may be altered, such as unclickable buttons, inactive links, etc. That's also why there are often two unsubscribe links in a newsletter.
