Why won't my computer recognize my headphones anymore?

Hello,

First of all, I want to say that I'm not very good with computers, so a "beginner" vocabulary will be welcome ^^

Here is my problem: my computer (an Asus laptop) did a system update. Everything is great, except it no longer detects my headphones. It's not a sound problem since the speakers are working perfectly. It's not a headphone problem because they work on my MP3 player.

I therefore assumed it was a driver issue. I went to touslesdrivers.com and scanned my drivers. It told me that my audio system was:

Realtek Semiconductor Corp. Realtek High Definition Audio
Installed drivers:
Manufacturer: Realtek Semiconductor Corp. | INF file: oem5.inf | Class: media | Version: 6.0.1.5667 |

So I went to the Realtek website and downloaded the driver update that corresponded to my audio system. The update was successful, but the problem persists.

In fact, the PC no longer detects the audio jacks.

Can you help me? Thank you in advance.

Configuration: Windows Vista / Internet Explorer 7.0

A small solution: (Windows 7)
  • Control Panel
  • Hardware and Sound
  • Realtek HD Audio Manager
  • Advanced Device Settings
  • Separate all input jacks as independent input devices
  • Ok

And the problem is solved ;-)
