External hard drive not recognized by DVD player

Hello,
I bought a 2TB WD hard drive to watch movies; on the computer, I have no issues with reading, writing, etc... In short, the hard drive works well without needing formatting or partitioning.
As for the DVD, which is a Philips 3D Blu-ray player; the hard drive lights up but nothing happens. In terms of files, the hard drive is formatted NTFS like another 1TB hard drive, and the latter works very well. There are no issues with permissions either.
If anyone has a solution, thank you in advance.
Best regards.

Hello and welcome to this forum,

Check the maximum power output of the USB port of the drive, often limited to 500 mA, as a 2 TB hard drive usually requires much more.

But you're welcome, and have you checked the power capacity of the USB port of the reader? What does the manual say?

      Re,
I no longer have the manual, but what I read online about this device (thank you internet) is that it is a type 1.1 USB with a 5v = 500 mA power supply.
      Thank you for your help.

But you're welcome, and therefore no hard drive requiring more than 500mA

I can't tell you about the 2TB hard drive; I haven't found any information about the power supply for this hard drive.

Yes, this hard drive must be able to connect to an external power supply of 5V 2A
    What is its full reference?

No, unfortunately he doesn't have it; there's just a USB cable connection.
Thank you anyway for your help.

    Hello,
The problem was indeed with the power supply. Instead of buying a new DVD player as we only have movies on hard drives, we bought a "mi box s" which has a USB port and is quite affordable, and everything works very well with the 2 or 4 TB hard drives.
Thank you anyway, have a great day everyone.
