Solved

Hello,

I am a beginner in music and I want to use Tuxguitar on Xubuntu. Everything works but I can't get the name of the note to display under it. However, in an example file provided with the software, the names of the notes are there.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Sincerely,
François

    Good evening,

here is a download link for the images:

    https://1drv.ms/u/s!At8s6_OBQe_9oAGa4WZe9TiBWuYb?e=Tqafvy

in the file "what I want", the names of the notes (in American notation) are under each note.

in the file "what I have", the names of the notes do not appear.

Therefore, when writing the score, I would like the names of the notes to automatically display under each note.

    Best regards

Okay, I'm going to give you a little detailed explanation of what you have in the image.

    First, the chords:

To find and edit the chords, you need to go to the button outlined in red. Once done, the window framed in green opens. Here you choose the chord you want with its properties:

Then you go to display: you find the tab "Chords", you click and you can enter the name of the chord (plus the diagram if you want):

In the end, you will have the part framed in green (I highlighted the added name of the chords in yellow):

example with diagram + name of the chord (it's a C major or in American notation C):

    The lyrics:

I think this is what you're looking for: after selecting the place where you want the lyrics to appear, you need to go to "Track" and click on "Lyrics":

A window opens (framed in blue) and you enter your text (the name of the note for example) and validate:

and you will have the result framed in blue:

I don't think the software can automatically insert the note names (except with the chords as previously seen). But you can add them yourself with the "Lyrics" tool.

If you have another problem, feel free to ask.

P.S.: if the images do not display, please let me know ^^

Hello and thank you for the explanations that address my issue.

It's just a shame that it's not automatic.

    Best regards

I think it would become a huge mess and an unreadable score if all the notes were translated. One can imagine a score with lots of triple eighth notes and overlapping notes, making it unnecessarily overloaded... The fact that there is tablature allows those who are not good at reading music to play their favorite pieces without knowing the treble clef.
If you ever want me to help you translate your score, I'm here for you.

    Best wishes,

Thank you, but when it comes to music theory, I'm actually not too bad. I find the tablatures online and then to practice, I transcribe the sheet music onto Tuxguitar. Moreover, my friends are good musicians who help me a lot.

    Sincerely

    François
