Hello, I suddenly realized on May 21, 2020, that I could no longer open my email accounts with Free (including my professional accounts)... I had an operator on the phone who told me that she wasn't aware of this type of outage (sic!) and that she would report it to the technicians... and that I would receive a response by email to... my contact box... which is with Free, hence inaccessible... (of course, faced with such absurdity, I changed my contact address)... It seems that this outage is not new... do you know if it has been fixed in the past when it occurred? Do you have any solutions other than waiting for Free to get in touch with us? Thank you in advance.

Thank you. Would you happen to know how previous outages of this type were resolved and... especially how long it took??? Thank you in advance.

The time frame varies from a few hours to several days.

      Hard to say....

The number of affected users may prompt the provider to be more or less responsive...

Generally, it can take anywhere from a few hours to a few.... days!

From what I've seen, some manage to "work around" the issue by using an email client...

You can try either with the built-in Windows client (Mail) or, for example, Thunderbird... (This kind of solution sometimes works...)

Thunderbird is what we call an "email client," which means software that allows you to retrieve your emails directly from the providers without going through a web browser and "webmail" servers.

      You can download it here

      https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/communication/15353-mozilla-thunderbird/

(It works equally well with MAC, LINUX, and Windows)

After that, I can't guarantee 100% that it "fixes" the problem encountered... It has only been noted that in some cases, while the mail servers are down via the browsers, they may be accessible through a "client"....

      It's an experiment to try...

Thank you everyone. Everything was resolved 48 hours after I reported it, without me having to do anything other than wait for FREE to fix their machines.... :-)

    Hello,

This outage only affected the webmail. The servers remained accessible through email clients like Thunderbird. The advantages of these clients are numerous (creation of local backup folders, no need to log in every time, etc.). It's really a priority to install them.

The contact email account should never be with the same host. It’s obvious. Otherwise, how could you retrieve your credentials in case of loss?
