Screenshot shortcut on a laptop Solved

Question

Hello everyone !!!

Here I have a problem: I have a laptop (HP Pavilion dv8212ea) with a numeric keypad and a key "Print Screen". But when I press it and go into Paint to paste the screenshot, nothing happens!!! The key doesn't work... I tried pressing it with "Ctrl" at the same time as well as with the "Alt" key, but nothing happened. I don't see how to "activate" it.

Does anyone know and could explain how to make it work please ???

P.S.: if it helps, the key is located above the "Num Lock" key; on top there is a white arrow pointing up/left and underneath there is a small blue rectangle with blue text inside "Print Screen".

There’s a certain PASCALOU on a site who says:

you need to have an Fn key right next to the Ctrl key
you press Fn and Insert at the same time

Insert being the same key as Print Screen

so you press Fn (End) and Print Screen at the same time.

I don’t know if it works but it should.

Thank you very much for your advice and thank you for trying to help me!!!

Unfortunately it didn’t work...

Regarding Doctor C's advice, my "insert" and "print screen" keys are two distinct keys. I don’t know if that’s the case everywhere, but it doesn’t seem to be according to the expression "insert being the same key as print screen."

I also have the "End" key.

I tried pressing the three keys at once, then two at a time, but nothing worked :(

Good evening

If it is written in blue, you must press and hold your Fn key (also blue) to access any other blue key.

Furthermore, if this key is double ... print / insert, you must also press simultaneously either:
- on Shift
- Alt
- Ctrl
- AltGr (different from Alt)
then Print Screen (so 3 keys at the same time)

One of these combinations must work. It depends on the PC model.

I also have a HP laptop and I had the same issue for months, and thanks to your answers I finally got it by pressing only the "fn" key (next to the "ctrl" key) and the "print screen" key at the same time... Then I can paste my screenshot into Paint with a simple paste...

I own a DV6000 pavilion and the Fn and Ctrl keys no longer work, after coffee spilled on the keyboard... The Print Screen can be obtained in different ways, Num Lock as well, the rest too, except for brightness control F7 and F8 (on XP)... and that’s what interests me... does anyone have an idea???
