Hello,
In my 2009 apartment (rented), I would like to connect my laptop to the internet via a wall RJ45 socket in one of the bedrooms.
Since the box is connected in the same way in the living room, I first stupidly tried to connect an Ethernet cable in the bedroom, between the wall socket and the computer, without success. I then did some research and concluded that I needed to connect the box to a device called DTI - which would distribute the signal to all the RJ45 sockets in the apartment.
However, this so-called device is simply nowhere to be found. I’m starting to wonder if it really exists. Was this device mandatory or at least mostly installed in apartments built in 2009? Where can I find it (there's nothing in the electrical meter closet)? Is it possible to have RJ45 sockets without a DTI?
Thank you in advance.

Hello, the DTI is solely meant to diagnose your line. If it’s working before the test, it's not the provider's issue. If it’s not working after, sort it out with your electrician or your landlord. And if you’re a nice guy, stop posting the same question; you’ll be put in the basement real quick.
Thank you for your reply,
The box/line is working normally. With it plugged in the living room, I can connect to the internet via Wi-Fi without any issue.
When I plug an Ethernet cable into the socket in the bedroom, am I supposed to have internet? Because in this case, it isn't working.

Hello,
There must be at some point the other end of the sockets in the rooms. If it's not in the apartment, it could be in a storage room, a cabinet, for example on the landing of the building, or a room for the whole building. But in that case, all the wiring is only set up to distribute the phone/ADSL line in the apartment, through RJ45 sockets. There's no way to run Ethernet over the network then.
Best regards
