Can VLC still read Zone 1 DVDs?

Hello,

On old topics, you can read that older versions of VLC (v. 0.86) were able to play all regions of DVDs, without modifying the limited region changes of the PC's drive.

Is this still the case with the latest versions of VLC?

I want to buy a region 1 DVD not available in Europe, which is why I'd like to know if VLC is still functional for this type of playback.

If not, what type of software do you recommend?

    You can try DVDFAB PassKey Free

    Then the ripper with DVD Shrink.

    Verification:
    VLC 3.0.8 plays region 1 DVDs. (And I assume all regions)

    To rip the DVD, you'll have to check with the software mentioned above.

    Version 3.0.11 reads Zone 1 without any issues.
