Hello!
After several unsuccessful attempts to migrate Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 using Microsoft's "MediaCreationTools" software, I’m appealing to the community...
Indeed, this is the fourth time I’ve tried to use this tool to abandon Windows 7, which is now dead, but every time I try the operation my computer returns an error: "Operation failed due to SAFE_OS error during MIGRATE_DATA"
So, I’m not born yesterday; I first searched other forums (for example Microsoft’s), but I didn’t find anything conclusive, since after uninstalling Avast (as it was advised), the error persists...
Some may tell me that it's been impossible for a long time to upgrade to Windows 10 for free, but according to a LOT of articles found on the web, Microsoft never stopped this service.
So, here... I’ve made a small list of things that could cause problems:
- I installed Ubuntu in dual-boot on a partition of my disk.
- I asked to keep my programs and files; it’s possible that a software blocks the migration.
- My computer has had an issue for some time; it’s impossible to do updates from Windows Update because of a unknown error.
Anyway, there may be other things, I’ll check, but if you could help me already, that would be great!
