Why isn't my keyboard working anymore? Solved

Good evening,
I’m having a big problem with my keyboard; it’s not working anymore. I’ve been told that I need to do an update. But I can’t enter my password at startup. However, the keyboard is powered on. I’ve plugged and unplugged it repeatedly, but nothing works. I then tried with another keyboard, and still nothing. My keyboard doesn’t have a USB cable.
I have a laptop, fortunately.
I would like to know what to do; it’s been going on for 4 days.

It may be that the filter keys have been activated (for me, that was the case). Just go to the hidden icons and click on the stopwatch and disable it:

The story just happened to me, I have a Logitech keyboard that was working perfectly and then suddenly nothing.

Apparently this happens during an update that Microsoft Windows performs.
In this case, you need to go to the start menu, control panel, ease of access, keyboard and uncheck everything that is checked, then you restart and you will have your keyboard back.

Here is a solution for those who, despite all the solutions on this topic, still cannot get their keyboard to work again (trust me, even if it requires modifying the registry; it worked for me):

- launch regedit (run cmd, type regedit)
- in regedit: locate the path [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96b-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}], delete the UpperFilters key present
- open notepad and paste in:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96b-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}]

- save this file on the desktop, name it .reg: "toto.reg" for example
- close any open programs, double-click on your reg file, confirm, allow the modification of the registry
- (if your keyboard still does not work, restart the computer)

And there you go, your keyboard should now work again!

In my case, it was no longer possible to have a single character on internet browsers (Mozilla and Internet Explorer). However, the characters worked in Word documents. I don't know if it is related, but the problem occurred right after I tried to enter my password on the official website of my health insurance!

Here’s how I fixed the problem on my Asus laptop (Windows 8.1): Windows key (bottom left) / Shut down / The computer asked me to perform updates: OK / When it finished its updates (about thirty minutes, since I don’t have ADSL), everything returned to normal.

I must say that since I got Windows 8, I have been constantly having problems that I had never encountered before...

Hello

Personally, what worked for me was reinstalling my keyboard drivers.
It's easy!
Start menu => Device Manager => Keyboards => double click on the keyboard that appears => driver => uninstall. It will ask you to restart, and Windows will automatically take care of reinstalling it. And there you go, it works!
P.S.: If it asks you to uninstall the driver permanently, check: no.
