Windows 7 update stuck at 35%

In the end, after leaving the PC running overnight on those famous 35% of the update, the next day my PC was successfully started.
I don't know if the update has really been completed because I still have a message saying that an update is available, but I'm not touching anything.

You are supposed to upgrade to Windows 10.

Is your OS cracked or not?
On a cracked OS, Microsoft had some fun with the latest updates before support ended to mess with their installation. They could have shut off access to everyone a long time ago, but they didn't; instead, they reserved the right to stir things up a bit at the end, they must have had a good laugh.
