Hello everyone,
Living in Réunion, I received a Pop computer running Ubuntu, like all Pop computers, it is locked. However, after leaving high school, we can make a request to retrieve the BIOS code, which I have done.
Now, I would like to fully enjoy the computer as a Root user, but, unless I'm mistaken, we were not given the Root password.
I would therefore like to know what to do with this BIOS code I received and, in parallel, how to access Root status. (I would also like to know if the operations to be performed carry risks for my data) Please.
Best regards,
a user not very skilled in computer science.

or, unless I'm mistaken, we haven't been given the Root password. Please request it from your former high school and/or the POP dealer.

Thank you for the quick response,
The situation is slightly different here; I'm not being asked for a password or a specific username, and I don't even know if there is an official administrator. Moreover, aside from consulting a professional, I wanted to know if there was something I could do with the BIOS code I was given. (I would like to solve the issue "myself")

The BIOS code is just there to allow you to access the said BIOS and modify its configuration, such as booting from a device (USB for example) and installing another system instead of another GNU/Linux distribution.
If I remember correctly, normally on these PCs delivered with Ubuntu, you can install whatever you want, right?
And as such, you are already the administrator of the machine.
The only known restrictions were the inability to install another system, thus prohibiting access to the BIOS.
Am I wrong?

I had already considered this option, but since I am in a training program for computer science and networks, I wanted to make sure that there were no other solutions (otherwise it would have been a great exercise).
If there are no other solutions, I will stick to your solution ^^
Thank you ^^
