Hello,

It's because it's an "emergency" that I couldn't take the time to research the forum on this subject.
I just acquired a cheap tablet for my hospitalized wife, and she will only use it for messaging and Internet browsing.
Little problem, I am unable to connect it to the home wifi or 4G.
Can someone guide me please?

PS: I have only installed the SD card that came with the pack.
PS2: I also made an unsuccessful attempt with my phone's SIM card (Free).
PS3: Equipment = Livebox from Orange. Tablet "Voukou" from Amazon.

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 78.0.3904.108

Hello Judge_DT and thank you for this other response.

If I understood correctly, it's not a standard procedure to connect a tablet to 4G via the SIM card.
However, I was wondering if, like with PCs, we couldn't establish this connection through a mobile phone that would serve as a router?...

It could be done,

provided that the phone is connected to 4G and has a "mobile hotspot" feature that is possible and active.

If that’s the case, you just need to connect the tablet to the smartphone via Wi-Fi.

Here you go, before I reply, I did the maneuver to provide a coherent answer if someone else were in my situation.
So I don't know if it's me (possible) or my old (like me...) mobile phone that is acting up, but I can't seem to join and connect the two Android systems to each other via USB cable.
So I went through the phone's wifi network which then provides network access to the tablet through that route.
All that's left is for me to sincerely thank you Judge_DT because I think we don't do it enough for people like you who come to offer their help voluntarily to clueless folks like me. THANK YOU

Hi,

You should first indicate what issue you have when you say it "doesn't" connect to the Wi-Fi network...

An error message or something else that appears? That could give a clue as to the reason...

Because with so little information about what's stuck, it's impossible for me to tell you what's going on...

Hello Judge_DT,
And thank you for caring about my issue.
Indeed, I lack clarity in my question, but I'm not very skilled...

When I activate the Wi-Fi connection on this tablet, I get this information: "Saved, secured by WPA/WPA2"
Then the message appears: "Authenticating", and finally "Authentication problem".
I also add that "sometimes" my Livebox detects this tablet.
Need any more details?

So, it's an authentication issue... In this case, the Wi-Fi password must be incorrect or Android must have a "bug"...

You should delete the network on the tablet and reconfigure it with the correct password, making sure to respect the case (uppercase, lowercase).

As I mentioned in my first message Judge_DT, my wife is hospitalized and I have to receive a phone call from the facility that I cannot postpone.
So I will reach out as soon as I am done with them if you allow it.
Thank you and see you soon!

Re Judge_DT,

Here I am back, and I apologize for the inconvenience.
_ I have nonetheless proceeded according to your advice, but not knowing how to remove the network, I simply reset this tablet to factory settings since nothing is installed at the moment.
And miraculously, by fully copying the security key from the box, the connection works, and I have access to the Internet and its various services via the livebox.
_ However, I didn't dare to try the test again with my phone's SIM card because yesterday, during the same test, I had a hell of a time getting it into its dedicated slot with the provided adapter, and also a hell of a time removing it.
And during this time, if this card is recognized, it doesn't give me access to anything, or rather, I don't know how to activate it to access the network via 4G (?...)
Do you have any other advice please?

For access to mobile data (and 4G), since you probably won't have calls with it, after entering it and surely entering the SIM card PIN code, you need to go into the settings to activate "mobile data," which is probably not on by default...

Good evening, I just got this tablet for my son, but putting in the SIM card is quite a headache. Could you tell me how you did it because honestly, it's a nightmare.
Thank you in advance.

Good evening,
The answers provided by Judge_DT to my question are explicit.
Otherwise, as far as I'm concerned, I've given up on the idea of installing a SIM card.
Especially since everything works perfectly via Wi-Fi, and when we are out of range of the box, we use the phone as a router via Bluetooth, and it works very well.
