Hello,
I hope you don't mind me reaching out because I really need some help. I have a Samsung TV, model LE40B551A6P. For the past few days, I've had a message in the lower left corner of the screen that is almost always present. It says "NV PERIPH NON DET" and right below it "USB1 OVERLOAD" and sometimes USB2. And when this message starts to appear, the sound cuts out or plays intermittently. Often, there's a strange noise like someone is rapidly pressing all the buttons on the remote control. I'm fed up; I can't even watch a program in peace. Does anyone have a solution to my problem, please?
P.S.: I want to point out that the USB port works normally and that the TV has no issues reading files.
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
Try unplugging everything, HDMI cables, antenna, and power plug, wait five minutes, and then plug them back in.
If that doesn't work and if you have access to the menu, perform a "reset" or "factory reset" or "initial setup" (see menu) but you will have to redo the whole installation and settings.

Nice to get back every now and then with a good slap, huh?
But you said:
"It seems like it happens as soon as the TV heats up."
We should vacuum the ventilation grilles, and maybe the smack has eliminated it.

Lol yes Andy sometimes a good slap
old-fashioned simple and effective is enough ;)
Yes I noticed quite a bit of dust on the back case that I cleaned with a wipe, but there’s probably some inside too. I’ll give it a quick vacuum this weekend.
By the way, do you know how to mark the subject as "resolved"? I can't see it ????????♂️

Hello, I had the same problem as you, the message that displays on the TV and sometimes the sound cuts off. I was looking for answers to solve this issue. I factory reset the settings and it didn't change anything. I checked the power cable to test another new power cable and it still didn't change.
And I read a comment where a customer tried to hit the back of the TV. It's silly to do that; I'll give you one piece of advice: never hit the back of the TV, it doesn't help at all.
Now I had a simple solution. My TV, which I've kept for 20 years, I never thought about cleaning the inside of the TV. Well, the first thing is to unplug all the cables.
Then, remove the cover from the back of the TV. After that, you can see the circuit boards of the USB and HDMI ports, etc.
You take a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment and carefully and thoroughly vacuum the whole surface to remove the dust. And if you don't want to vacuum, just use a blower can.
So when I finished, I replaced the cover and plugged in the cables.
I turned on my TV and the USB error message disappeared and never came back. Finally, the problem is solved! ????????????

Hello, I am not an electronics expert, but I suspect a failure with your television. I read that this model was released in 2009, but yours? I don't know. It was a so-called entry-level model, and the lifespans are often "inversely proportional" to the price of the television.

Please remember to mark your message as "resolved" if that is the case.

Hello everyone!
I'm writing to let you know that the problem seems to be resolved.
As surprising as it may seem, I just had to give the back of the TV a good tap and the message went away.
It’s been a few days since it reappeared, I'm knocking on wood for now.
Thank you all for trying to help me,
Have a great weekend :)

I don't know much about this, to say the least ... but I found ► This link that's quite old and might have solved the problem ?? ... Just to check just in case ??
Best regards
Phew! What a connection!
Thank you all for your responses. Andy, I followed your advice and even waited until the end of the day to reconnect with you, but the problem reappeared a few minutes later. It seems to occur as soon as the TV heats up.
And Marion, as for the solution found on the other forum, I had seen it before creating this discussion, but unfortunately it didn't work for me.. but thank you anyway.
If you have any other solutions or advice, I’m all ears.
