Hello,
I would like to know how to test a preamp and a TV amplifier before buying a new one if the one I have is faulty because I'm receiving the channels very poorly?
Thank you

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 75.0.3770.142

    Hello,

Let's say that with digital broadcasting, there's no point in amplifying, you just amplify the noise with it...

It's better to improve the installation... A good antenna with a good gain (17 dB without an amplifier is good) well oriented towards the right relay, clear of obstacles, and a good quality coaxial cable (17 or 19) directly to the TV, with no connectors at all.

If you're too far away or behind a mountain, it will be very difficult... But you can also see if your neighbors are receiving well and how they're doing it... only for those who receive well.

Thank you for this response. My setup was working very well some time ago with a preamp and amplifier. I wanted to test this amplifier before considering redoing the entire installation. Running cables through the attic, dropping cables down two floors...

    Hello,
Yes, and I would like to add that HD TNT is more demanding in terms of quantity as well as signal quality
The best option, if there are still no results with a standalone antenna as advised by Jeannets, would be to install a variable gain preamplifier (sometimes too much amplification can degrade the signal), this preamp should be LTE/4G filtered and placed as close to the antenna as possible.
Here is a good product for example:

Thank you for this response. Before intervening on the entire installation, I wanted to test the preamp and amp together to rule out this source of the problem.

You must mean power supply and preamp...
Check if you have power output from the power supply (coax cable going to the antenna).
