Hello,
I use a "scanner" (barcode reader) at work and I downloaded the documentation to configure it.
I can add a carriage return after scanning a barcode, decrease the sound...
But there is one thing I can't do:
If the Caps Lock key is not activated, scanning numbers returns special characters... It's very annoying to have to switch the Caps Lock key for each barcode scan... Here is the doc I found:

I encountered the same problem. I was using the Zebra scanner, but I returned it because of this issue... :(
Last week, I bought the Inateck scanner on Amazon, it provides me with a configuration document to maintain NUMBER mode on the Capital/Lowercase position of the French AZERTY keyboard. So far, it has been working correctly.
The tech support told me that it is the default configuration for the French keyboard. The issue regarding maintaining NUMBER mode is typical for users of AZERTY keyboards where the numbers are all on the SHIFT position on the top row of characters. When in lowercase, the characters are output, but not the numbers on the keyboard.
