Hello,
I recently acquired a white polycarbonate MacBook from late 2008 and I am stuck on Mac OS X 10.7.5, but I can't get Windows 7 or Windows 10 or even Linux to boot from a USB flash drive.
(While I have seen people successfully boot Windows 10 on the very first model (2006) from a USB drive)
However, I managed to install Mac OS 10.7.5 on an SSD via the USB flash drive...
Anyway, I would like to boot Windows 7 or Windows 10 or Ubuntu 16.04 from the USB drive since I don't have any blank DVDs (either scratched or full but not rewritable).
Thanks for your help ^^

Hello,
It is normally not possible to boot a Mac running Windows from an external drive. Windows must be installed on an internal disk of the Mac. This is part of the agreements made between Apple and Microsoft at the time Boot Camp was introduced.
However, it is possible to boot from an external drive with Linux on it, provided you have a properly prepared USB stick or CD with a Linux version compatible with the specific Mac. If that is the case, you need to insert the USB stick or CD and restart the Mac while holding down the Option key during the startup phase to then choose the boot drive.
Best regards.
