My Mac doesn't detect my input microphone.

Hello,

I bought a new microphone (Tonor) for recording audio, but when I try to plug it into my Mac, it only detects it as an output (naming it "headphones") and not as an input.

I tried looking in the Mac settings, but I can't switch it to input mode.

If anyone has an idea or simply the answer, I'm interested!

Thanks in advance,

Have a nice day

Can you provide more details about the microphone? In particular, the exact model in question and how it connects to the Mac (jack, USB, ...). Also, please specify the model of the Mac, as it might be important.

If it is a dynamic microphone plugged in via jack on a relatively recent Mac (less than ten years old), it cannot be recognized, as Macs no longer have a microphone input! However, if it is USB, is it listed as compatible with macOS (check the manual)?

Hello,

It's exactly what you described. I looked in the manual and it is indeed mentioned that it's a dynamic one. My Mac is 2 years old so that's it.

Thank you for your help and the answer!
