Sony CCD-FX200E camcorder broken

Hello
I recently retrieved my late father's Sony Handycam CCD-FX200E. I wanted to play the tapes (8mm and Hi8), but when I put a tape in the cassette drawer, it won't close anymore. Without a tape, it closes just fine.
Can anyone help me????
Thank you very much.

Hello, this is a post from last year but I am still active and nothing has changed, fixing it yourself is illusory and Sony's customer service no longer supports tape camcorders.

      Hello,
It's a very unfortunate policy, it seems that replacement parts exist in Asia, but just getting the defective part(s) is a real ordeal.
Websites like eBay sometimes offer the complete model but most often for parts only, AND even then, when the info is clearly specified. Yesterday I found a seller
for a device in "good condition," and out of caution, I asked several questions, only to conclude that the camera belonged to his uncle, and he hadn't done any tests. Oop

    Good evening VitamineUS,

You probably aren't inserting it correctly.

Try to check the user manual if you still have it.

    Sincerely,

I carefully read the User Manual and there is only one way to insert the cassette, so I don't understand!

Thank you for the reply. Yes, the camcorder is properly plugged into the power supply, and the tape drawer works very well when empty. I have tried both formats, 8 mm and Hi 8, but neither works. When I press "push," the drawer closes, but it doesn't go down. You can hear the motor running, but the cassette doesn't go down.

Hello, this does look like a mechanical failure and I can't help you with that, but there is one thing that bothers me: why do you have Hi8 tapes? Did your dad possibly own a more recent Hi8 camcorder that might be in a closet?
