Hello, my problem is as follows: my friend wants to give me his two old RAM sticks, but the issue is that I have two HyperX RAM sticks of 2133MHz in DDR4 and he has two Corsair RAM sticks of 2400MHz in DDR4. Would it work if I mixed them together even though the brands are different and the frequencies are not the same?
And for your information, my motherboard can support both types of frequency.

Hi, it's not the subject, but RAM frequency depends on processor frequency, so the first test to do is to replace your RAM with your friend's to see if they work at 2400. If they work at 2400, forget about the old ones or sell them on the classifieds. It's not a good idea to mix RAM with different frequencies.
And thank you for your answer.
No, the 4 will be at 2133 (normally)
"it's not possible to have something that slow."
I really don’t see how it would be slow.
"if they work at 2400 forget the old ones or sell them on the secondhand market"
First of all, the two sticks are given so it's all profit
Then let's imagine the PC has 2 x 4 GB which totals 8 GB at 2133
Add 2 x 4 which makes 8 GB at 2400
This would result in:
16 GB at 2133
Which is double what the PC currently has
Which is better even though not in dual-channel
And which is better than only 8 GB at 2400
I will think about it more, but I don't think I will take a risk, and thank you for taking the time to respond to me.
Since it's free, you really have nothing to lose.
If there's an incompatibility, just take out a pair and it'll be fine.
It works with all 4 together, it's perfect, you're winning.
If it doesn't work, black screen or beeping, just put back the original ones or rather your friend's ones.
Basically, the PC only crashes if there's an issue with the RAM sticks, but just removing them will make the PC restart. It doesn't cause a real crash, it's just "temporary."
