Hello and thank you for existing on this forum :)
Newly a member, I am desperate to recover my Outlook account, which is blocked after I accidentally deleted a password for account:live in the "Password Management" section in Google Chrome. I have a Chromebook. What I don't understand is that before I used to receive a phone call (no mobile so no SMS for me) to provide me with a security code, and now even if I check "Call," I am still being told that an SMS is being sent. I am discouraged and desperate to recover my account because several addresses, emails, and photos are stored there, and I need them on a daily basis. If you could tell me how to proceed, I could recover it before 30 days as Microsoft says. Thank you!

Hello

Are you talking about outlook.com? Or Outlook on PC (2007/10/13 etc)?

Best regards

Hello madmyke. It's 7 am here in Quebec :) Thank you for your help, I really need it. Yes, it's my address michou3359@outlook.com that has been blocked for a week now. :)

Hello in Quebec then :) (I went there a long, long time ago but as a tourist)

Have you followed all the options described HERE?

If so

P.S. advice:
You should never trust "remembered" passwords on a PC, a PC can easily crash, be stolen, etc. you need to remember it or use an app to manage your passwords that is not ONLY on the PC.

If you do not have your security information or cannot access it (backup phone number or email address), click on I don’t have a code when prompted to enter a code upon logging in, or on I don’t have access to this information when resetting your password, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

You may need to complete a security questionnaire asking for various information, such as the subject lines of emails you have recently sent from your account, your date of birth, your credit card information, and other details known only to you. You don’t have to know all the answers, and a close answer is acceptable if you do not know the exact answer.

Note

A waiting period of 30 days may sometimes be necessary before regaining full access to your account.

I completed this form and since then, I have received no response from Microsoft. I answered a few questions but I did not provide my banking information/credit card details, nor my date of birth. I should probably do that. It's driving me crazy, these self-imposed actions against oneself :(

As for the 30-day deadline, it was imposed on me, unfortunately. I'm still trying to see what more I can do....

I created a new outlook.com account (bastibou4@outlook.com) and even in this account, I don't see an option to choose whether or not to enable two-step verification. It's a prison!

The only thing is not to provide any credit card information, yes I don't see the usefulness at all. The rest is fine..
Unfortunately, there is nothing else to do, all account information is on their server which is logical.
Let's not forget that all these services are free (MS and all the others) that they have to put in a minimum of security and therefore we should not expect reasonable delays since more people to handle = more costs.

There are often paid alternatives with better service, that's a choice I have made for some things.

So in your case, you will probably have to wait.
