Hello,
I had Studio 16 on my computer which recently crashed. A repair technician reconfigured everything for me and, among other changes he made, he installed Studio 21.
When I import a video and place it on one of the A/V tracks, I can't see it when I start playback: the small preview screen (editing view) is missing. However, it seems to me that this screen was present when I tested the computer after recovery.
In the absence of a solution, does anyone have an explanation?
Thank you in advance

Yessssss! Everything is back in order. I opened a "ticket" with Corel and they responded the same day. I followed their instructions by downloading DirectX, and when I opened Pinnacle Studio 21, my little preview screen (editing timeline) was there!
All that's left to do is ...
Thanks again, Glandu, for your help.

Hello, I have Studio 21 and I'm very satisfied with it. You have tutorials on YouTube to get familiar with it.
Go ahead.
When you open the software, you arrive at the page where you can choose to organize or "edit." You click on "edit" and you find your usual layout from Studio 16 with the viewer on the right and the album on the left. You click on a scene for display.
"Donkeys change their minds, not idiots."
Remember to mark your message as "resolved" if that is the case.

Thank you, Glandu, for this information.
Here is the page where the software opens.
You can see that I placed a clip on track 2, and I should normally be able to visualize it when I click on the play button of the viewer: the scrollbar moves forward, but I don't see any image!!
Is the "edit" button you mentioned the one that is highlighted in orange?
Thank you again for your help.

Hello, the photo is as clear as day, so my idea is that the software was poorly installed, missing some DLLs. Uninstalling and reinstalling it is one option, but there's also another risk of failure.
Given my past experiences, it’s important to be more meticulous when installing new software. First, you need to clean the registry of all remnants of the old software, which is very delicate.
I suggest you send a "ticket" to Corel to explain the situation; they will provide you with steps to uninstall and clean the registry using their application "regdelete" before reinstalling.

Explain this to your repairman; if he can clean the registry without Corel's instructions, I’m copying you for reference their response:

Thank you very much, Glandu.
You confirm exactly what I intended to do: uninstall, clean, and reinstall.
It's quite a irony that the professional who reconfigured my computer and replaced my Studio 16 with Studio 21 could be so negligent.
I am leaving this morning for 5 days. I will keep you posted when I return at the beginning of next week.
Thanks again for your help.
